Sankey Tent Trailer

Kurt:

Wonderful work!

I like to compare the differences in trailers built outside the US.
They realy put thought into function on your trailer.

Thank you Mark.

Mightbe it will take some more time to get the M-owner society in the US involved into the trailer tent society. :Astrologist:

Time will tell... :coffee:

BBQ season.
And it was hot and dry outside.
Time to get some colour burned into the surface.

Defo sounds like a good plan, looking great, love the under cover cooking area. Can you cover the sides in to enclose this area.:Wow1:

:ylsmoke:

sorry for my late answer and the non vertical pix, picr.de just turned them back to the original format and my photoshop is out of order. :Wow1:
We had a small party. And it went a little bit cold during the night. The oven was set on fire and all went well with the guests!

Fitting place on the top of the 130. Most parts of the chinmey are inside.

Nice form and function. I like the roller on the end for transport and the skids for non metal to metal contact while on the truck.

Eagle eyed Mark,
the rollers were added because the stove including the chimney inside is heavy and I'm old! The handle bar is a little bit dislocated. I'm pondering on this.
The wooden skins should have two functions:
disconnecting warm elements from frozen underground and protecting the fresh painted body.

Second idea failed. :Wow1:
Stay tuned about corrosion when this winter will be done. :ylsmoke:

Arlo,
Very cool. I too have a mk1 model (narrow)Sankey and a 130. Do you still utilize that damn c shaped piece on a chain when backing so the brakes don't bind or do you have an elegant solution for that as well ? I'm in total agreement with you on the tubs. I was able to find an as new one and have it stripped to be galvanized along with the original frame etc. Digging the way that tent envelopes your trailer when deployed.

The small reverse stop is still in use.

But I fitted it with a stainless steel chain just as all other chain secured items.
No elegant solution yet. I'm sorry about that.

Huge space and no problem heating it with that stove Kurt :ylsmoke: you're making a great job, keeping things as easy/simple as possible.

Well, without the great tent tailors from South Africa I would never had started this project for sure!
I like their way producing tents! Keeping things comfortable but simple, easily in use strenght in the outback! :coffee:

This stove is just an add to whom it might consern. :sombrero:

But it keeps you comfortable during cold nights! You just need somebody who held the stove on fire.

Another Sankey WT

A good friend asked me to give him a hand for his new project: Sankey wide track supporting a LR one ten HCPU tub!

Dismanteling:

The axle is supported by a little helper in a vice and fixed by a stud through the brake linkage bracket.

Hub caps off: grease inside. Cool so far.

17280239sy.jpg

Brake pads are a little bit thin but ok for the moment.

17280240gh.jpg

Hub off: the inner seal was assembled the wrong way! :Wow1:

17280241gg.jpg

The removed inner seal and the back side of the oil catcher with the outer seal (made of leather)

Timken bearings in good condition!

This was the good part.

drain bore closed by the paper seal

this has to be open to the oil catcher!!!

17280247ji.jpg

And a lot of corrosion everywhere else!

This wasn't fun to release. But nothing got broken!

Except one spring pin and a shackle pin. These had been cut to remove the leave spring packadge.

To remove the bushes it needs some force!

17280603hh.jpg

The biggest hammer will do a good job!
