Scepter MFC can order...Any interest?

Those of us who were distributors for Scepter in the US were no longer allowed to order the MFC effective Jan 2008 and only permitted to sell existing inventories. This had nothing to do with CARB rules but a decree set forth by the Department of Defense. I know one distributor who received a suppeonna for records of all whom he sold olive colored MFCs to. If the MFC had become available again for legal sale, Scepter would inform us and I can promise you we would be selling them. I don't know who has gotten their hands on MFCs and is selling them in Canada but I can assure you that it is not Scepter. I urge you to proceed with caution. I would hate to see any ExPo members get any grief.

I'd like to see a copy of the DOD Decree - got a link or a copy you can post?

Yes, any hard data would be appreciated!! That is not how I understood the law. There are several Canadian distributors still selling the cans. The one I spoke to was going to have to place an order to fill my request, so not old inventory...

Please pass along any info you have.

Thanks.

OK, so here's what I'm thinking...

There seems to be a lot of interest for sure. The quantity involved will require some serious cash outlay on my part. To help defray some of the upfront cost, I'm going to offer these at a discount for anyone willing to pre pay.

Pre-paid orders will be $60 plus shipping if needed. That's the same price you would pay walking into a shop in Canada.
Buy 2 or more and get them for $55 each plus shipping.
I'm getting a little bit of a volume discount so that's where I'll cover my time.
I'll pick up as many extras as I can and bring them home to sell. I'll charge $65 each plus shipping with no pre payment.
Spouts are going to $24 each, up front, or $30 no pre pay.

Estimated shipping: about $12 for one, $15 for 2 bundled together via USPS (cheapest quote I could find). Local pickup in Santa Cruz, CA is ok too.

Since we don't know each other personally here, I will invoice those interested via paypal. You can pay with your paypal account, or if you don't have one, by credit card. Paypal gives you 100% insurance on your purchase should anything go wrong. That protects you, and the payment up front protects me from buying 100 of these things and getting stuck with 90 of them. Of course, cash or cashiers check is ok too.

I'll not send invoices or collect $$ until I have the min. number of orders. If everyone that has shown interest steps up, we're good on quantity.

Please email me your name, desired quantity, email address, and shipping zip code. PLEASE put "MFC" in the subject line so I can keep track of orders. I'll collect orders until I have enough. You're not out any $$ in the meantime.

I'll hold this open for 2 weeks and see what I get for quantities. Feel free to email with questions.

The military end use restriction is a US only thing.

Dave's and National have the MFC for sale retail all the time.

There are some good sources for half price surplus cans up here as well.

Not looking to good...

There were 50+ cans here, but only 3 people have sent me an email committing to an order!. I'm willing to make this happen, but I can't put up $4 large and get stuck with a pallet of cans...

Anyone who is really interested, please see my previous post. I'll do my best to pull this off but I'm not going to go to the cleaners.

Maybe you should start a new thread, or at least update the first post with the new details. I am sending you an email now committing, but I would have completly lost your new post had I not happen to click one page back and see it.

Thanks again for this!
