I hope the Platinum battery is not discontinued. The Die Hard Gold AGM IS the Deka intimidator series, and their specs in terms of CCA, self discharge and amp hours per weight and maximum recharge current is not impressive, not in comparison to Odyssey anyway.
The deka's want no more than 20 amps initial recharge current for a 100 amp hour battery and are not to exceed 14.5 volts. So much for the quick recharge AGM.
My vehicle's charging system will exceed both these parameters so I never considered them. They might be a good solar only battery, but the self discharge curve is not much better than flooded batteries, so it appears the only real advantage of the Deka Intimidator is the spill proof/ no offgassing factor. Probably still way better than the Asian AGM's like Universal Battery, which also have limited recharge current, and not impressive CCA or self discharge. Of the two, at least the Deka are made in the USA, and if bought through sears as a DH gold, similar price.
My Group 27 NorthStar has not seen any charging currents for 2 days now. It is resting at 13.06v. So far I have been impressed with its ability to crank my v8, and to power all my house loads, when I task it with that duty
