REI fail.

Looks like availability of IGT items may remain unreliable. :-(

Firepit...

Hey gents...getting ready to pull the trigger on the large fire pit...is the snowpeak charcoal bed really worth it or can I use a standard grill (linky) grate that has been cut down? 48$ seems like a lot of coin for the genuine snow peak one...

Also, what size should I get - medium or large? My plan is to use the quikfire guy inside of it when there is a open fire ban

I use the small charcoal bed inside my single BBQ box and it works a treat for giving a little more airflow to the briquets.

I'm waiting for the large pack and carry fireplace kit to come back in stock on the site but curious about opinions on small/medium/large. Seems like everyone says to get the large from what I've seen...

Basically a kind of valet/pouch for the my table... Can see putting my phone/keys in there while sitting next to the fire...

I've seen the grate. It's incredibly heavy and expensive. I've been using a 10" square of perforated stainless sheet in mine.

It weighs next to nothing and served the same purpose. I've cooked over 50 dinners with it and hasn't corroded at all.

As far as size goes I would recommend the LG pit over the medium. For the slight weight penalty it gives you a more cooking area. You also have more options available in regards to mesh grills and pan inserts that only fit the large grill.
