Okay folks, here's a map of
potential routes.
Clicky.

You'll see a point called - so creative! -
CAMP1. This would be my target for Friday night. Since I've never done this area, I don't know how viable, interesting, or feasible that spot is.
This is where the adventure comes in. If that's not precisely where we end up for the first night, I'll at least commit to being on/near that road between that waypoint and the waypoint "BEGIN."
?Comprendes? Other points are labeled CAMP2, CAMP3, etc. These are just potential places for the second night. Maybe we'll actually drive the "outer" loop to Johnson Well and camp on the western side of the routes on Saturday to be close to the highway for a more expedited jaunt out - for those of us who have commitments to be home at noon.
I've got 2m and 70cm communications in the truck, a 2m repeater in Casa Grande might work perfect for meeting up on Friday evening: 146.780 + PLtone 100.0. Let me verify this in a future post, though. Otherwise, we'll stick with the simplex 146.460.
I'm out of town this weekend on the
overland biking near Sonoita, so more of details will get worked out next week.
Now, my personal dilemma: is this an
adventure, or is it really an
expedition?

No solid idea where the camps will be, a basic plan, need for a permit, small chance of being bombed by the USMC, and some remote roads. Happy Cinco de Mayo.
Let me also say that I'm really excited that there are so many of you who want to come.
