nice looking truck.
In my experience I also have owned a 04 dodge. same as my current one, 4X4, SRW, 3500. (have owned 5 diesels total) and the 04 got the same mileage as my current one does, under similar driving conditions. The 04 would get around 1 mpg better on the highway empty.
There is a great article in this months TDR. It shows 3 different styles of driving, (1 towing12K# 2400 miles, 1 empty 1700 miles, 1 towing 4500# 900 miles) It showed that stock, the regen, while the truck is working (on the hwy under load) only cost about .8 to 1.25 gallons of fuel. so about $4.00-6.00 for those miles. How much is DEF, if you have a newer ford or Chevy ?
if you spend 1-2k deleting the truck how long does it take to recoup? plus you lose the warranty. The article was a eye opener.
using the truck in the city as a DD and only going 1-3miles per trip YMMV
just food for thought.

If you could send a link it would be appreciated.
This truck has to several secnarios, tow vehicle, about 8600lbs, some commuting, 100 mile R/T, and Camping exploring with one long trip a year.
I will not dig into the engine sytems for at least a year, near term will be decent tires, suspension work, aluminum bumpers with a winch and maybe freewheeling hubs. The jeep behind it in the picture needs to sell first, half goes to the truck and the other half goes to my wifes series IIa land rover.

The article is in the quarterly print version. You have to be a member to see the online articles past the 1st page IIRC.

it is really worth the 35.00 a year just for the TSB info that is printed in the magazine.
