The Adventures of a Land Rover TReK Discovery

congratulation Matt - thats a great vehicle. As noted above I would put in a Plywood floor (I have the dimensions of the CT ones) and bolt all your "mods" to that. You can also add drawers that way as well.

I would really like to use Adventure Trailer's composite material to keep the weight down and make a really trick drop in floor using the factory lashing points to secure it.

Aaron (TravelToad) made a very clever removable floor plate. I don't remember the details, but you might be able to pm him, or look him up on EE's forum. I think He removed the tiedown bolts, and replaced them with longer M8 sized bolts, and built a latch thing using standard hardware that clips the load floor to the tiedown bolts. Seems like just the thing.

Another great mod on that rear barn door is a fold down tray. The fine folks across the alley from you can help you there. Just keep all the plastic bits for reinstall later of LRNA asks for them.

Curios about the tires, as they certainly did not exist in 2003/4. I assume this truck sat for quite a awhile and needed new rubber... How's the battery? Fan belt? Hoses? Was it stored with an empty fuel tank? If not, better replace that fuel filter pronto.

Might want to replace all oils, radiator, and brake fluids too.

It is a LRNA truck on indefinite loan to Overland International. We have no restrictions on use, mileage or modifications. Land Rover (thankfully) figured it was better for the Discovery to get some use from enthusiasts who would really enjoy it as opposed to it sitting in a back lot rusting away.

The vehicle was 100% serviced before we received it. It had 1,300 miles on the ODO.

We have no elaborate modification plans for the vehicle. It needs very little. Just some additional clearance and compression travel from the suspension and then appropriate support equipment (recovery, tools, camping, loading/lashing, etc.)

I think Matt will also put a bike rack on the back to haul around his fixie (instead of riding it. . .)

Anything else interesting rusting away on the back lot?

The only really bad thing about that truck is that it's almost too nice and rare to use as intended.

The camel trophy trucks that were in the state WERE rusting away, but they were hidden by an insider :)

Hey Matt it was great seeing you out & about this weekend. We were on our way back from a Boy Scout campout and one of the young guys riding with me spotted you down the road. But alas I was not fast enough to grad a camera.

Looking forward to what you guys do with the loaner, and congrats on having a relationship that strong with LR, very impressive.

As Lance saw, Bobby Curtis (purplepeopleeater) and myself were out on the trails doing a little shakedown run of the TReK.
