The Wanderers build

Yes I saw it and it looks nice. Was just speaking in general terms. And it all depends on how easy you can see that screen etc. Definitely many different ways to accomplish your goals however. What you have done thus far looks amazing.
I have a couple projects that will get hidden radios because I don't want to mess with the aesthetic of the current dash (50 Buick Special) - and it works for others... glad you brought it up because I know a lot read this for ideas for their build.

Absolutely! I enjoy seeing it too. And I do the same. Browse and get great ideas from different builds.

Rear bumper
light install. mark holes using the gasket center from the lights
utWDG1Vh.jpg

DqKHUa9h.jpg

then mark
6Q6F71Ih.jpg

with the lights set in place
GdgSMKnh.jpg

I decided I wanted flat lights so ordered those.... seems like a risk to leave them floating in mid-air on an otherwise indestructible rear bumper
sometimes I use the tig to 'wash' the edges to make finishing easier.
rcPkPRVh.jpg

then spent the rest of the evening grinding until my arms were numb
g6xm2rxh.jpg

at least rough grinding is done, now to make them look seamless.... tomorrow.

supplies for the next steps
iGFWuFRh.jpg

as unbelievable as this is going to sound, I found another at UPullit. Was free (even better)
xVwHsFxh.jpg

time to start mocking things.... sending the panels down to my upholstery guy in the next day or so
qTrPSEYh.jpg

making those patterns
eLK2o3Oh.jpg

then the rear window, where, as is typical, I got stopped because I need to replace the cable
SANUGGyh.jpg

ah wiring, I missed it soooo much
VkR1agOh.jpg

annoyed at my USPS wage thief (after all, if you take a wage for a job then don't do it, you're a thief).
Porch is 50 feet from the driveway - he left all the boxes of electronics in the rain in the middle of my driveway.
K5S2zNYh.jpg

and yes, complaint time. UPS then put the even more expensive stuff next to it. smh. ah well, I think I got it before it actually soaked inside the box.... but really?

anyway, my stuff arrived Pioneer stereo, Kicker speakers, Pioneer amp, Kicker down-firing subwoofer
diiEz0Dh.jpg

oh and CB
x7vKhY8h.jpg

I have a HAM radio already but HAM is part of the package
it's like a soggy Christmas came early
62MyaxGh.jpg

the UPS guy gets a warning from me on next delivery - he's been really good so far, but that .... yeah.

decided to continue my annoyance and work on the tailgate.... it worked, I got more annoyed
fy83Cnmh.jpg

once I got the sweeps in place, the window had trouble going up and down (the gear slipped).... so more parts on order.....
up soon is the installation of this and probably a storage tank
3J4HTEyh.jpg

and start planning for the electronics install. CB and HAM radios... I think I'm going to put a shelf above the window and install them there... makes it easier to hear them and keeps cords and stuff out of the way
9iA7RAih.jpg

it seems everything is bigger then expected.... including the amp. The suggested putting it under the dash... um, the only way that is happening is with explosives
G2rq7cmh.jpg

set the new seats in place
H5IDbpbh.jpg

so I could test-fit the subwoofer
XaEwQtDh.jpg

the issue here is when I put the 'camper' on it, I need the floor space to remain clear or flat.... which leads to the next issues which are where things like a 10 gal water tank is going to go....
This truck is strange in that it uses the seat tracks and such from the earliest squarebody Blazer. However, these seats came from an 84.... but for some reason GM went back to their original design when they built my 86.... just weird

anyway, more soon.... thx for watching

moving back to the blazer from this
Mx6YPoZh.jpg

I need to find a side panel.... not sure if it's even possible but I bought my wife a 3d printer for her birthday, my hope is I can either use it or convince her to print me out a cover
jjkZ97vh.jpg

then grind for a minute
jotFurSh.jpg

then work on installing the headliner
first, run wires to power CB and other stuff
Lw1HqWuh.jpg

and start fitting
PtLs4srh.jpg

the absolute hardest part is lining up the screws to hold the uprights
SU06n2Ph.jpg

then start working on where the seat is going to land
vU7j1Foh.jpg

throw in a fix for a snafu (burned the circuit board)
P0yNM6sh.jpg

and a billion other things and there we go... incremental gains.

some days I wonder why bother...
to remind, I bought a new worm gear for my rear window
Kaj3bh1h.jpg

then took it apart again - note how the motor is low?
rgGP2pth.jpg

it hits the window...
1yaWcAKh.jpg

eventually got it back together (but the glass doesn't go all the way down because the cable is in the way...
nqJqfpUh.jpg

then figured I'd do something easy like aim the headlights... easy
xExdd22h.jpg

then, since it couldn't get worse, I simply went back to the window I was avoiding from before. for unknown reasons it slides back and out of the front track while going up and down.
G32L1Vrh.jpg

the other side works fine so the assembly is right but this side doesn't want to stay where it needs. I may get clever with a hammer tomorrow...

started a fire in the shop before I left for work this morning so I could paint tonight....
start with the top by putting adhesion promoter on
TEPNG2D.jpg

then clean
7Hl14O3.jpg

Not sure I'm a fan of SEM liner
UCtEHfF.jpg

and I get it, anyone else looking would think it's great.... and it is, but I wanted more texture
WvAWUd4.jpg

not bad
mhGvUnq.jpg

9eRZFI7.jpg

also needed to fix this - it keeps the door latch from working if the window is up
aWVtWPW.jpg

test fit
MDm7XXW.jpg

now with epoxy
L0w8D0e.jpg

now another cherry section in the fire and it should stay warm enough to touch tomorrow. I was taking paper off (as recommended, but making a huge mess - I'll use a razor blade to separate the seal and tape from the bedliner

Yeah, Raptor Liner would have been my choice. You can adjust the texture with air pressure and it ends up more of a semi matte finish instead of glossy.

it was completely wet last night, seemed to be drying down to a more matte finish when I checked this am.... It was a comedy last night, first step was repair where I broke an air line when I was doing bird removal earlier this year....

Explorer
but wait, there's more
love it when I can find 1 of 4 bolts I need
PEQACawh.jpg

epoxy epoxied
xwfOZ0hh.jpg

seat belts arrived and are rewebbed
WYwUvrnh.jpg

then some assembly is required
UnzoPB6h.jpg

so there's a rubber seal, it needs to be pulled over the edge
9eyfwNFh.jpg

or sealed with great stuff (when the rubber tears)
9HAAeVVh.jpg

need to apply heat and it'll seal
ENOMFElh.jpg

in other news, rear bumper is now painted and assembled
PbjQmyhh.jpg

now comes the most annoying part.... the waiting for parts... missing one clip
L2S0I51h.jpg

for those wondering who inspires me.... the funny part of this - he went from a Iveco (or similar) truck with a box to a Renault 4L .... I just didn't go quite as extreme either way - I have a 26 foot class A motorhome, then Suburban, now Blazer.... but still....
