Tundra AC or Taco DC w/ Growing Family?

For our family the Tacoma double cab is perfect, two kids in the back and our lab in the canopy. Lots of room for everyone and gear (we've been through car seats and up to boosters now), comfortable for travelling, easy to daily drive, pulls our 19ft trailer, and mods only limited by budget..

Double cab Tundra is the best bet.. The pup gets to have his own seat, plenty of room for extra bodies when the need arises.

We have an 03 Tundra AC with 2 child seats in the back. Tight quarters and the rearfacing has to go in the middle, but it works. Wheelbase is decent in exchange though. If I could do it again I'd buy the DC (which also has @4" deeper bedheight. I'd prefer this with my shell. And the backseat windows roll down which our 3 yr old would love!) But our current AC works fine and I'm definitely not gonna get rid of it over those (minor) quibbles! If you're into easy aftermarket support the Tacoma would be better, but the small V8 and "medium" overall size of the 1st gen Tundra AC are nice attributes!

If parking space is a non issue go Tundra DC. If parking is tight go Tacoma but know that most folks Ive met that sold the Tacoma and moved up to the Tundra did it due to needing space and load capacity with kids and gear. If you pack light and dont do heavy packed trips the Tacoma works well. If you pack heavy for long trips the Tundra is the better choice.

I have two kids in cars seats and a 10yr old. I have owned a 2012 Tundra Double Cab, 2013 Tundra Crew Cab, and currently own a 2015 Tacoma DC. All three work for kids in cars seats. I liked the DC Tundra much better than Crew Cab due to under seat storage options and the longer bed. My kids actually like the Tacoma best of all, due to size. The Tundra scared them...lol!

I bought my '05 DC Tundra several years ago, and as many have already said kids grow up. I have three now ages 12, 11, and 8.5. They fit very well. The back seat is cavernous. We fit so well that we are taking it to Alaska this summer. We may not be friends when we get home, but we will fit.
