Two Years Living On Two Wheels...And Counting

I took a ton after pictures of this place. Just look at the water! Walker Lake it is called. It has no natural outlet except for evaporation and absorption. It is interesting to read the history of this lake too. The color of it was just incredible!IMG_0547.jpegIMG_0537.jpeg

MSR makes one liter fuel cans for camping. I always carried a couple on my two wheeled road trips

On a budget though, a one or two gallon gas can is cleap and easy to strap to the back seat. Just don't fill it all the way, the fuel will need room to expand in the sun. Yoy cab also cover it in a towel to keep the heat down.

Lastly, some of the 1L juice jugs are pretty beefy and great for carrying water.
I like your ideas Moyshe! I have sense "adapted" and have become better kitted. I do like the idea of a moist towel to reduce the heat on the spare fuel containers though. I would not have thought about that one.
One reason why using an MSR Whisperlite International makes so much sense when traveling abroad is because you can use it with the fuel you put into your motorcycle. That allows you to also use those canisters as extra fuel.
I actually love to use Juice jugs and Gatorade bottles! I like the idea that I can repurpose something which would likely only end up polluting a landfill.

Northern California and Eastern Oregon were very interesting to me. I hadn't spent much time in that area and after this trip I knew I was coming back to explore.

Soon we would be back in Seattle. Pulling out of Portland brought back so many fond memories of when I was just 17 hitchhiking across the country and hopping a freight train in Rawlins WY that took me into Portland OR.IMG_0583.jpegIMG_0584.jpegIMG_0587.jpeg

Seattle is s strange place for me. I am NOT a city boy at all! I don't mind visiting a city but about two weeks is my limit to be stuck in town. Although I have lived in several cities, I find them to be too confining. This is not the case with Seattle! I absolutely loved living in Seattle and would return in a heartbeat! It is the only city in the world I could actually see myself living the rest of my life in.IMG_1057.jpegIMG_0595.jpegIMG_0596.jpegIMG_0597.jpeg

While I was up in Seattle for a couple of days I did some consulting for an old colleague . That put some cash in the pocket and gave a little relief. I was very grateful for that opportunity.
The wedding was great! It was awesome to see the family again. As usual, I ate an insane amount of sushi and Poke! It was like I had never left; even though it had been 3 years.IMG_0604.jpeg

We got back into Las Vegas late at night and it was pretty cool ! It is a town that may not sleep but the streets are a lot less busy and you can actually check out the lights.

I spent the night at a hotel did some laundry and repacked my gear for the ride the next morning. It was kind of cool to see the views of the city.

A friend had asked me meet him in Mesa so I could ride to Tucson to pick up his new RV then drive his truck home. It was good money and I figured the trip would be fun. So I tried to leave Vegas early enough to try to dodge some heat but I got caught up with breakfast with a friend and ..this is the desert!IMG_0644.jpegIMG_0646.jpeg

Riding 5 1/2 hours in the desert in extreme heat ( Mid August) takes a serious toll on you! I had to stop and hydrate at roadside pull off. Did I mention how much I just love the desert?IMG_0652.jpegIMG_0653.jpegIMG_0654.jpeg

I could not escape my ignorance! I was going to suffer a while to wake up.
The first Part of this is one of the best written sentences in your thread.

The power and raw honesty of that statement, “I could not escape my ignorance”, shows you to be a writer who understands the importance and value of simple, impactful sentences.

Your use of short sentences like that is very Hemingway-esque.

I’ll definitely take this style of writing over the guys who write page long paragraphs without breaking up their thoughts or text. Those are way too hard to read, I find.

On my iPad, these separate descriptions of his adventures are very simple to scroll through.

I agree 101%. The overly verbose writings on this forum, that take absolutely for ever to convey a simple thought, are dull and mundane. I'm pretty sure they think that there is value in having the highest word count, while saying the least. I can usually tell after the first couple of sentences if it's worth reading.

To the OP - keep up what your doing.

I was not saying he needed to add to his vocabulary or the content. I just wondered why he split it up into so many separate posts. Say the same thing, but in one post. That is all.
