Which axle upgrade route to take

Just be very critical when looking at the axle, if for nothing more than to get the price down.

By the way- do the brakes cross over, or is that another expense?

According to my Series IIA parts manual, they are the same.

The parts manual also says the Salisbury was standard on the very last of the IIA 109s.

This is correct, every thing from the axle flange is the same...

Now you need so Series three front brakes to go up front! 3 inchers!!

You do have power assisted brakes right?

Careful James! I tend to talk a lot of people into a lot of stuff!!! In the end they're usually happy though:)

It is a 6 cylinder, so it has the big drum brakes. The PO also upgraded to an SIII dual circuit vacuum assisted master cylinder.

If you can pull it off cheaply, I would jump on the deal. I don't know what kind of shape your bearings are in, but you might consider swapping them while you're in there. It would add $100 to the price, but I'm anal like that on big projects. At the very least, you might want to replace the hub seals to save your brake pads. When you said the pinion was missing, I assumed the pinion gear- replacing that would require a setup. Just swapping bearings and some seals shouldn't be an issue if there isn't too much water in the housing. I'm hoping for the best for you, although I'm a bit envious.

Just think- with the money you save you can get disc brakes!!!:clapsmile

What happened to keeping the Dormobile original?:smileeek:

It probably goes with the bolt-on crossmember.

Nothing. It would be nice to have coils springs, but not on this Dormobile.
