Woo Hoo! 235/85 16's are on!

I have yet to test them back to back (but I may in a few weeks) but I think the Maxxis Bighorns are louder than the BFG M/T KM (both in 255/85). The Bighorns did take very little weight to balance and they run nice and smooth down the road.

redline,,, i would be happy to stick with the BFG MT but this set i have now is just very disapointing on the road,,, what happened to MT's??? my old non KO set of 33/9.50 were round quiet and smooth on the street, these things are choppy loud and vibrate. i would like to try the cooper STT or maxxis bighorn next. we'll just have to see what kind of price i can find when i'm ready.

p.s. i wish the parnelli jones dirt grip tire was available in a size i wanted, i have the 37/12.50 on my landcruiser and i am so happy with them.

the regular hum of offroad tires is music to my ears, but these tires have a loud irregular throbbing noise. i think that most of my UTS (unpleasant tire syndrome) may be coming from just one tire. i rotated them to test and the vibes and irregular throbbing noise has moved, so i will rotate once more and see if i can pinpoint the ill tire. BFG MT has always been a great all round tire and i'd like to not write them off, we'll see.

Here is the tread pattern of the AT-S. It's a little less aggressive and a little more street/highway oriented than the AT-II:

Doing great so far in the snow and slush and they seem a bit quieter on the street. I'll be taking a long trip to Kremmling next weekend so that will be the first long distance try.

Having just put BFG 235's on my truck I will weigh in on this. The ride is a lot firmer but that also takes into account going to LT's from P metrics. Everything else seems to be about the same but I do drive it differently than I did with my Revos. I used to speed around corners with those but don't with the BFG's as I am trying make them last as long as I can.

Hard to say, I haven't ridden around on solid rubber wheels in quite a spell. No seriously, I have a really nice suspension on it so it is hard to say where one stops and the other starts. I will tell you that it is on the rough side unloaded but loaded down it rides like butter. I carried everything I owed in a Uhaul about 2500 miles and it felt smooth as butter. I also recently carried almost the same load in the bed of my truck from San Diego to DFW with the old P metric Revos and the ride was VERY mushy and I was a little concerned on high cross wind driving. I just didn't feel in control and the side walls showed the weight. The trip to Connecticut with the 235's was very pleasant. I think I did very good on tire choice and I will replace these with the same thing once they wear if that helps. Will you notice the change? Probably but not enough to make a stink about it. I can also tell you that my off road traction has increased as well but I can't tell you if it was from going to the BFG's from the Revos or the 235's from the 265/70's. It may very well be a combination of the two. What ever, I like them and I like the looks...

Great info, my tuck weights 5500lbs with just the camper on so I think it should be enough weight. I just found out that the Yokohama Geolander A/T 235/85 has the same thread width as OE tire, 7.3".

For those not in Colorado, we've been getting slammed with snow for the past week, just wanted to say the Geolander AT/S tires are awesome in the snow! I could not have picked a better time to get new tires on the truck. :wings:
