Finished up all the wood and staining on the teardrop so to celebrate and with temps hitting 64 Saturday, me and my son Clayton hit the trails with some friends.... Clayton got to run his first trail alone, at 14 years old he did great..

Yes Bobby I'm floating the skin and yea it's close to the frame (3 inches with weight on it) Hoping it'll lift before it compresses that much. if it hits any I'll put the trailing arm axle in it, if I flip the axle it would too top heavy and tall.

Yes that's the problem with spring over, everything in the galley gets tall.
You can always do a small bumpstop

I don't see the axle ever flexing that much that it will hit the frame. I also think your trailer will be more stable this way. Mounting it the other way will get tippler for sure. Before you flip things around I would rather put a inch spacer to drop the mounts to give it a little more room.

I have a utility trailer with the same design and a softer spring rate. I have had that thing loaded with a lot of weight and never had a problem. That is why I decided to do the same set-up for my trailer. The only draw back is there is little give and on rough roads we will have to take it slower than others. Mine did turn out to have more room but I have not had the body on it yet. I Imagine it will squat an inch or so when I mount it. I am using a spring rate the is over kill though.

If I ever build another I will go with a independent system. But I think you will won't have any issues with the way yours is built.
