Well I went to go look at it last Sunday... Wasn't impressed at all. He had a lot of things in the engine ripped out at the time, and it looked like he was ghetto-rigging some stuff in there as well. I'd rather not risk it. Not to mention he was a little more than discreet about some of the cosmetic issues... At least until I got there.
He neglected to mention the tailgate is busted and has a few rusted holes. Also has a new bumper on it, but it's welded on crooked.
It looks like the police department put down some rubber flooring, but I can see where it was starting to tear apart.
The inside was pretty good. But for some reason there was an exposed 24V line in the engine compartment and in the back of the truck. I've never seen an exposed line like that, and that's one of the big reasons I opted out. All I need is someone to shock themselves...
I asked him whether there was bad rust on it, he said no. I asked him whether it went into the cab. He said no. The cab corner here was rusted clear through. It's not like you're going to fall through it, but still. The fact that he lied about that made me wonder what else he had "forgotten" about.
The picture doesn't quite do it justice, but there's a big dent in the passenger door where he go impatient at a gas station and his a low cement barrier...
The dent doesn't travel completely inside the door, but when looking I realized that the floor under the door was rotted out pretty bad.
It was also coated in some pretty thick rust on the underside. Enough that you could take a knife and knick a chunk off.
Needless to say he still has it, but I got to drive 200 miles or so. Got to see what it was like out up a ways north, and it sure makes me feel a bit better knowing that the state isn't all like south Milwaukee.
