I don't know. I'm going to guess that the 17 inch wheels may also mean larger brakes which would rule out 16's but I don't really know enough about 4th gens. I bet the guys over on Toyota120 know. They have a bit deeper backspace but fit on my '97 without any issue. They looked a little sucked in but they worked great.
