Proline aftermarket parts

Does anyone have an opinion on the quality of the Proline aftermarket Land Rover parts? Specifically the water pump. I'm replacing my power steering pump next week and figured while I was that far in, I may as well replace the water pump even though it doesn't give any trouble. There's 135,000 miles or so on the engine so I thought I get it over with at the same time. Thoughts?

Proline stuff is just reboxed aftermarket parts. I haven't bought one of their waterpumps but the other stuff I've tried has worked fine. I wouldn't buy any internal engine or tranny type proline parts but that's just me. Some of the other vendors will tell you what brand they are offering and in some cases that's important to me.

I think that's probably what I'll do. I'd hate to replace a perfectly good part just because of age and convenience and then have it go bad in six months.

FWIW I have one in mine that's worked perfectly. We do have a 1 year warranty, and very rarely see them returned defective but it does happen. Antichrist please email Graham@roversnorth.com with any website issues, it's very important for us to hear direct feedback to make it work correctly for you.

Worth noting that there is not a lot of overlap between replacing the PS pump and water pump, aside from dealing with the serp belt. I'd save it for another day... when your front cover gasket is leaking.

I've had generally good luck with proline and other aftermarket replacement parts. The one big exception was the proline water pump though. It was for a DII and lasted 15k miles. It failed catastrophically on the highway and cost $400 to get towed back home so i certainly didn't save any money by not buying genuine. We've had the DII since new, and the original water pump lasted for 310k miles.

I have had good experiences with the proline parts. I have used the calipers on a disc brake swaps. No problems.

I was under the impression land rovers are totally unreliable and don't last long. My dads RR has only 260k on it. Heads never been off. Just changed the timing set and seals at 180k. MAINTENANCE is key. Change your oil, change your coolant, repeat, repeat....

haha - they are unreliable. That's what consumer reports says at least. Our DII is on its last legs however at 325k right now. Head gaskets at 78k and that's it for the engine internals. Other than oil leaks, the drivetrain is still in amazing condition (especially for its age) but there are so many little things that it is time for a new DD. The real killer is 13 years of winter driving - the salt has started to take its toll underneath and this is the ultimate decision maker for me on when to throw in the towel. It will probably be replaced with a second 2011-ish LR2 since low range isn't needed for the daily commute. No way will we have an LR2 for 325k miles - I'm too uninterested in working on "modern" cars.

Well, I wished I'd changed it when I did the Power Steering Pump. When you need a water pump, you need it immediately. I would have liked to order it from Lucky8, but now it's coming from Advance Auto Parts.
