Addison,

Thanks for stopping by. Your 4Runner, as well as photography, are certainly a inspiration as I will be taking some bits from your documentation and applying it to mine. I'm new to metric size, so whatever one size is taller than my current tires (LT265/75/16). I really dig the width of this tire, so ideally I would like to stay with the same width. Ball Joints will be done when the Runner does get lifted. I have read a few threads, specifically the "3rd Gen 4Runner Buyers Guide", where there was pictures of ball joint failure... certainly do not want to experience that!

Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words! Hope my build thread helps you a lot.

The 265/75/16 is a roughly a (32"x10.5") tire. Once you lift, you'll probably be looking at a 255/85/16 (33"x10") which is a popular tire around here in the Expo crowd, or the slightly shorter but wider 285/75/16 (33"x11.5"). I run the 285/75/16 and am very happy with it. I thought about going the tall and skinny 255's but I wanted the extra width. The narrower tires should be easier on fuel consumption though.

Good call on the ball joints, we definitely don't want to see you or that nice Highlander T4R getting scratched up! If you need help with anything don't hesitate to message me. I have seemed to grow rather well-versed in all things 3rd Gen 4Runner since I got mine.... hahah

Cheers!

Ah thanks Addison! Those measurements conversions are awesome... just what I am looking for. I out to get use to them, as that is what I will most likely be driving on. I will keep that in mind. I appreciate your throwing the virtual helping hands out there, i'll take advantage of it when i'm stick in a limbo on a questions or two.

I am just soaking in the new comfort of my 4Runner. The on-road quality of the ride, coming from my XJ, is borderline indescribable... Smooth, no cab noise (compared to XJ), and cruise comfortably at 65MPH. I look forward everyday to putting the key in the ignition and turning it over. I am excited every time the vehicle comes within sights.

I've ordered some maintenance items, just to create a baseline as to what I do not have any records for.
Denso 234-9002 Air Fuel Ratio Sensor (O2 sensor).
Denso 234-4153 Oxygen Sensor (O2 sensor).
Denso (3194) K16TR11 Traditional Spark Plug, Pack of 1. Quantity: 6.
NGK (4412) TE66 Wire Set.
Replaced windshield wipers with 17" Trico RED wiper blades.

And some parts came in.

In the future, I would like to bump an inch or two, to gain some clearance, and keep the same size of tires that I have now (LT265/75/16s). Without a doubt, i'll go Old Man Emu.

I think that sticking with the current size will help you in the fuel mileage dept. The 265/75R16 is already a size up from stock. You can go 255/85R16 but to keep your power and efficiency you would need to re-gear. Very nice looking 4runner and I hope you have many years and adventures together.

Absolutely. I did not realize the LT265/75s come out roughly to a 32" tire. I'll stick with this tire, and once I figure what suspension components are needed from OME, i'll bump 2". Thank you... I can't wait for the many memories to make in this vehicle.

Nice looking 4Runner, I've owned mine since 07 and love it. Only wish would be that I held out for a Limited edition. Congrats on the new Runner..

Tony,

Thanks for stopping by. I almost bit the bullet on a 97' Limited with e-locker, but then I saw the mild upgrades the 99'-01' got, and decided it was best to hold out for the right one. The purchase came much soon than I expected, but i'm oh so glad I am the owner. It still is surreal to walk out and see everything I wanted, and it be mine!

Nice ride! I remember looking at the Highlander package 4Runners in 1999. I went with a Dodge Ram instead, what a mistake that was. I went back to Toyota a few years later. They are very hard to beat.

Nice to see all the maintenance items showing up before mods - that's the proper way to do it! Seeing all your parts is very reminiscent of my own build when I got it, I did all the same maintenance immediately and it's proven to be an awesome decision. My Runner has NEVER let me down other than when my original alternator kicked the bucket ~40km into a remote trail. Can't blame the 4Runner though, that was my own ignorance. haha

Thanks for all the updates!

Thanks, as I am really fighting my index finger on adding a slew of suspension parts. I've read your OME vs. TRD Tundra/LC thread and has shed some good light on the differences between the two; i'll be re-visiting it when I am ready to do suspension. Yikes... talk about bad timing for the alternator to go belly up! You are welcome man.
