Crossing oz south to north in a stock fg637

I would go with a shocker that is adjustable so you can tune it to suit, something like tough dog shocks, also ask them to assemble the spring pack with a bucket load of graphite grease this cuts down the leaf friction big time and makes the ride even better, if your not sure which shocker i can check it out for you.

Hey mate try giving Brendan at Ultimate Suspension a call in regards to your setup. They do suspension for virtually anything.

There in NSW though will freight anywhere in the world. I think they have a great product backed up with great service.

Cheers Alan I've had a quote from industrial springs in Adelaide for $250 to reset both springs which sounds cheap.

Thanks Stu I think I've spent a bit long daydreaming here on expo and have lost faith in what these vehicles are capable of stock.

I wish I had the $$$ to drop the truck at ATW and let them go nuts but at the moment budget mods are the order of the day.

If you're on the super tight budget then just replacing the Oem bumpstops with Aeon bumpstops works wonders too. One of the biggest problems with the front suspension is no bumpstop clearance and hard rubber blocks......at least Aeons take the impact out it when you bottom out. Anything you can do to reduce friction is plus....like Alan suggesting graphite grease.....or greaseable shackle pins ..... One of the plus's of parabolic's is no friction because the leafs don't touch but anything you do will help. Of course grease just washes out on the beach or in sand......I seem to remember one of the old timers wrapping their Canter bus springs in leather sleeves to keep the grease in ...sounds like a hassle to me..

Anyway Aeons are worth it for not too much coin.

John.

Thanks John I spoke with the Aussie importer of the timbrien rubbers I think it was around the $500 mark, I reckon I'll start with these springs and see how it goes.

I'd start a build thread but there's only so much you can say about a tarp and a few ratchet straps

Another alternative to Aeon rubber is the back bump stoppers from a 80 series landcruiser they are hollow and do a similar job, you can also trim them to any length with a saw.

$500 ....That's insane......ATW Aeons would be a fraction of that....call ATW and ask Mark or Jon. ...not me....either just the Aeon rubber springs bare and make your own plates or buy them already bolted up to a mounting plate.....they've got them in two sizes. Small ones shown here in the pic.

Yeah....great shot. Where was that taken?

BTW...Dave in stores should be able to help you with a price cause he just sold a set of rubbers only to a tour company... You see, they normally get sold in a full kit, but if it helps you out for now then that'll be good. Dave's got a 637 Crewcab like yours so you guys will probably have a good ol' chinwag.

Regards
John
