Seeking on board water tank options for JK

If you're still looking...plastic-mart.com has all kinds of H2O tanks in all kinds of configurations. I'm planning on getting one for the back of my PU. You'd need to plumb and set up a pump, but that would be easy. Good luck and let us know how it goes. :sombrero:

I know this is an old thread but GenRight appears to make a decent 20 gal. water tank. It mounts where the muffler is and is about $1000. I believe you have to relocate the muffler and use a certain sway bar link kit for it to fit.

I've been investigating water tank options for my future JKU Overland build.

My current plan is to cut out the rear cubbie, making the floor flat.
Once I've done that, and relocated the muffler, I imagine there will be enough room to mount a ~15-20 gal water tank.
Obviously it will need a skid plate of some kind, and the rear sway bar link will have to be carefully considered.

I like this idea as it keeps the weight of the water extremely low, and right on the rear axle. It also doesn't use up an precious interior volume.

I initially thought about using the Warrior trunk or similar for a water tank location http://www.quadratec.com/products/14147_5902_07.htm. For consideration, it looks like it will hold ~8G roughly, so would need something much larger in this area to accommodate the capacity you are seeking. I like the location for that.

As it turns out, since I had the Warrior in place, I decided to use the space for a Propex 2000 which fits nicely underneath all my AT storage (fridge slide, drawer, etc.). Went with the AT bladder setup instead but ended up upsizing the bladder to the next larger size which seemed to fit the rear passenger seat well more fully (also a good place for the weight) and expanded better than the smaller bladder initially provided to fit under Stage 2 AT storage. Along with the AT electric water heater, I can get close to 10G on board but of course cannot pump out all the water from the heater if the bladder empties upstream. This has been enough water for 3 days-ish and two people including a nice little shower each. I did switch from a 30 psi to a 15 psi water pump which helps a ton and which I really like a lot with reduced pressure - no need for 30 psi for this application for my use.

Somewhere yet to be developed is an even better design for a JK water tank maybe in the capacity you refer to. I'd like ~15G (120lbs) for my ideal capacity without getting crazy since I already carry 10G of aux fuel. Oh, almost forgot about having the additional 4G+ of water inside the AEV bumper which is used for washing hands, etc. but not consuming.

Interesting, thanks.

I just ran the numbers from their site, and it looks like the interior volume of that thing is ~25 Liters, which is ~6.5Gal.

Hmm. I need to climb around under a JKU with a tape measure to see if something bigger could be mounted from the bottom.
I'm wondering why it couldn't be as wide as frame-rail to frame-rail, but I have not had a good look under there yet.

There is starting to be a very long list of things I need to accurately measure on a JKU.

Yea ~7G sounds closer for the volume of the Warrior which does NOT require moving the sway bar or anything else besides the muffler.
