1988 Nissan Safari(Patrol), 24+MPG, 4.2L Diesel, High "Safari" Roof, Five Speed Transmission, Factory PTO Winch

This truck was originally intended for the Japanese domestic market, and therefore has only a 12 digit VIN.

The Original manufacturers VIN # is VRGY60600785

The truck is legally imported, and all the required documentation is available.

It is currently Licensed and Registered as a Diesel in Colorado, USA

You are looking at a Spectacular, Extremely rare, low mileage factory Diesel Safari that feels almost brand new! The Safari(Patrol) was built for the Japanese Domestic Market and has all the options that were always “dreamed of” but never available here in the US! The 4.2L Diesel engine produces decent power and lots of torque, while still achieving 22-24 mpg on the highway! This vehicle has only 39,000 miles on an engine known to go to 500,000 or more with proper care and maintenance. With the robust five speed transmission, factory PTO Winch, and 31 inch tires this vehicle can go virtually anywhere! This would make an excellent platform for that ultimate expedition vehicle, and is quite capable even in the factory configuration as you see here.

Pristine, strong running, exceptionally well maintained Safari with all the options! Gets great gas mileage (22-24mpg) with good power from the original factory 4.2L Diesel. This truck runs super smooth, and is a blast to drive! The body is clean and straight, with no rust anywhere! It is the cleanest specimen I have seen for a truck originating from Japan! The truck rides really nice with the factory coil spring suspension and the original 15 inch rims with 31/10.50R15 snow tires that are in good shape with maybe 80% tread life left. The truck has dual 12 volt batteries, and a 24-volt electrical system. The PTO winch looks to have never even been used, and has the original cover included. The interior is in flawless shape, with no issues anywhere. Seat covers look to have been used since new, and the carpet has a green rubber mat material that has protected it since new as well. It even smells new when sitting inside! The original roof rack and access ladder are fully functional and the winch is mounted in the factory bull-bar with nice large auxiliary driving lights.

This Safari has been averaging 23 mpg while driving mostly around town and occasionally on the highway! She is running strong, and will gather attention wherever you go! Don't be intimidated by the right hand drive, as it is extremely fun to drive and will only take the average driver a few spins to handle it like a professional! Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

Recent maintenance includes all fluids checked and/or replaced with new, new oil filter, new air filter and all carpet and upholstery steam cleaned, although it didn't really need it. The engine is in great mechanical condition with no leaks or issues. The body is clean and straight, with a couple tiny dents that aren't even noticeable. Please contact me if you would like any more detailed pictures of the interior, body or undercarriage.

This vehicle is 100% legally imported, and is currently titled and licensed in Colorado. I have all the paperwork and documentation for registration in another state, and can assist with the process for the new owner as necessary.

A beauty!

That's the one that was just on eBay? Too bad you aren't keeping it as they truly are amazing trucks. Not sure 23mpg is realistic but I easily get 16-19mpg on mine (corrected speedo for tires) regardless if I'm pulling 4000lbs or butt naked... Still very decent for a real truck!

And for the potential buyer, as long as you have the part number you can walk into any Nissan dealership and within 2 weeks you'll have the parts waiting for you at no extra cost :)

Two very useful sites...

Good luck!

Oops, I got carried away with my description and forgot to mention my asking price! While I am deeply regretting having to sell this sweet rig I figured this forum would be a good place to find a new home to cherish her.

My asking price is $19,500 and I will pay half the domestic plane fare to Durango as we are a bit out of the way when it comes to airfare.

The truck is located in Durango, Colorado.

Please ask any questions you might have, and let me know if you would like to see any more detailed pics? My phone is 970-749-2453 for calls or texts, or you can email me at:

A/C? If so rear A/C?

Rear heater?

Cruise control?

Sunroof?

Any idea on diff ratios? My guess would be 4.11's.

Pictures of chassis possible? IE, posted to this thread?

Cheers

Howdy Sir,

Good to hear from you.

This truck has F&R heat but no AC.

No sunroof or cruise control.

You would probably know better than me on the gear ratios? Is there somewhere I can look to confirm the gearing of this truck?

Thanks for your input and comments.

Cheers

I do believe it has 4.11's. I recall there is a way to know the ratio by vin # or door jam # or something like that. I am not up and up on Y60/GQ Patrols though, just a faint memory that the ratio is somewhere on the truck.

BTW, I left you a msg. yesterday.

PS: I saw on BAT people question the mileage. I do not. The drivers seat tells all as does the rest of the interior.

Yes, This is the same truck that was listed on eBay. It's also on a few forums such as this and the 'Mud.

To answer the mileage question, I suppose there's no way to know for absolute, but looking at the condition of the interior, underbody and everything else I am pretty confident that this is accurate! I also have my trucks mileage verified through JUMVEA/JEVIC before they leave Japan which verifies through registration and other available government data. I have attached the certificate here....

Thanks for the comments.

Gearing

Yes, it's 4.11

If you enter your VIN into the link I gave you it will give you all the details about your truck. Here's the initial page:
http://nissan.epc-data.com/safari/vrgy60/5906-td42/?frame_no=VRGY60600785

Then if you search under chassis and transmission you'll find it under final drive unit:
http://nissan.epc-data.com/safari/vrgy60/5906-td42/trans/D3801/38100Y/?frame_no=VRGY60600785

And you'll have all the part numbers for your truck if you need to order them. Funny how you can still order a roof replacement for your truck... :ylsmoke:
Anyway, it's worth for you to have a look and maybe that could convince you to keep it. The only thing that broke on mine in 3 years was the clutch slave, a big $35 ;) And mine isn't a city queen either...

Cheers,
Mr. D
