So I was think why has no one done this yet?

Find an ambulance and a f350 diesel dually and put the ambulance box onto it then cut a hole in the back of the cab, put 4 captain chairs with no center consoles so I can get into the box with out crawling over seats?

So you would have a diesel, dually, 4x4, seating for four, and a camper ?

I have googled this and goin a few but no one doing it as a off the grid home built kinda thing?

From my experiences working on ambulances the frames are different. As well as the suspension and axle and such. But anything is possible if you got the funds.

The F350 is a long vehicle. You want to attach the box directly and permanently fixed to the cab? if you are going offroad this will break due to flex without an additional frame under the box including a flexible 3 or 4 point mount.

i haven't seen this on these trucks here but there is technically nodifference to a Unimog/ Mercedes etc. On pickups you can see the bed moving and it's getting worse with a bigger and heavier box.
it's doable though.

EarthRoamers have pass throughs... even on their longest model. It is essentially a box body on a F-series frame.

Yeah, I have seen the ER, but have not run into them on an Ambo. Then again, I have never seen a CrewCab Ambo in person either. I think that they are pretty rare.

It´s not an easy "they are doing it" answer.
It depends on what use the vehicle is for. If ít´s for street use it doesn´t matter at all.

All letter frames flex, if they aren´t closed. There are some exceptions like MAN KAT 1. I´ve seen a Magirus Deutz F170 on a 3 point mount (the box) with an open pass through. On flex situations offroad the driver could see through the external mirror inside the box!.

If the box box is fixed to the frame- it will break.

I cannot find the Youtube link at the moment- impressive.

It is actually that easy of an answer. EarthRoamer does essentially what the OP was asking about. It is a box, mounted to an F-series chassis with a pass-through. If the OP wants to mount a box to an F-series chassis and have a pass-through, look at how EarthRoamer mounts theirs and take some notes. The guy wants to know if it is possible... sure, it is possible, just look at an EarthRoamer as an example. Easy? probably not...Cheap?...probably not... but still possible.

see the 4 door f350 is exactly what I am talking about but it would be the older 7.3L turbo diesel dually 4x4 4 door with the ambulance box on back with 6 inch lift and 35s .

I am just wondering how would u go about mounting it ? would it be different then the van?

The van frame is conceptually similar to the F-series. Two main rails the full length of the vehicle, some cross members, body mounts, suspension mounts. Pretty much the same approach.

You can also take a look at the pictures of Ujoint's V4 bed and the pivot they mounted it on. That might give you some ideas.

The pass through is visible in this photo gallery behind the jump seat looking forward. The only "real" problem is finding one of these as easily as the type III ambulances. A type I w/ crew cab and 4wd is a rare bird (relatively).

It just so happens my mini mod ambo is still for sale... reverse went out on the trans so I dropped the price down to $2,000.00.... now you will have a ambo box with a pass through and a spare 7.3 to boot.

I am not trying to find a 4 door ambulance 4x4....

I want to buy a truck like this http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/4144192828.html Then mount the ambulance box on the back of it, then cut a hole in the back of the fords cab and connect the two with this http://www.gortite.com/bellows/bus-light-rail-bellows. The end result will be a 4x4,7.3L turbo diesel, 4 door, dually, with 4 captain chairs and no center console so that you can get to the back front either the front seats or the rear seats and have seating for 4. and 4x4 parts and lifts readily available.
