How much do they want for that chinook? That would be BA.

Not sure how much they want. The inside was a little rotten, it would be a project for sure! I'm going to go over there on Friday and ask more about it. Would be totally BA!

Dooo iitttt.....

As long as the fiberglass shell is in good shape your good to go. Build the inside to fit your needs. Ive always wanted to do this swap onto a newer truck but finding those chinooks in decent shape for cheap doesnt happen around here.

Love those old trucks. Builds like little tanks. A friend bought one from A senior in San Diego for 500 bucks. Superclean same vintage a real score. He also sold his newer vehicle and just uses the old one every day.

If the Chinook isn't in good shape, heres an interesting Sunrader that looks clean, with unique rear lift access. It's in San Diego. It caught my eye.

Can these campers fit on another truck chassis or only Toyotas? I love the fiberglass design on these old Toyota campers.

If you do the Chevy swap I would consider boxing the frame. The RuffStuff kit is made to be frenched into the frame rails. I am waiting for some boxing plates and then will do this to my 2000 Tacoma with coilovers in front. The rear will outflex the front for sure, but that is ok as long as ride height and load capacity are where they need to be.

I am going chevys because the springs were free and the ruffstuff kit I got off TTORA for $100.00. I cannot afford a full spring pack from Deaver, Alcan, OME etc. $500-700 plus shipping to Kauai just won't work.

Very true! The fiberglass looked ok. If not I'll have my pop come over and show me some fiberglass patching fixes. I'll go over their tomorrow and see if it is still there and if so how much they want for it. Good thing about it is the truck is a 1975 so I could just register that truck, non-opt mine, and put those plates on my truck and have no smog! That's only if I were a person who thought California laws were crazy.... ;)

Nice, good deal and find your buddy got! Wow that sunrader is cool! I'd buy that for that cheap just to have for weekend trips to the coast. Maybe throw a solid axle under there!

No need to box! But I agree the rear will out flex the front OME which is fine, use to it from my other IFS trucks. I figured I can get same results if not better with the Chevys for cheaper, sounds good to me!

...but the earlier Truck frames are already boxed! :sombrero:

So nice! Over built for sure!

man, $400.... That almost makes me want to cry. I have been looking for a first gen since june. Where I am, they are mostly rusted out and demanding a premium price. I haven't seen one under 3k for months. Great score, I love it. I am sure you have had tons of offers, but if you ever decide to sell it, please put me on the list of people that want to buy it!

Link with 33x9.5s? I've seen the 33x10.5s and actually already have one sitting in my room and am about to get the other three this weekend.

I know BFG made these sizes but not sure if they have been discontinued ? Not on the BFG website anymore
