Quick trip to Baja

I did empty one of the 5 gallon gas cans one day, but for the most part the 15 gallons was overkill. It was much more about feeling prepared if something unplanned happened (if we got lost, had to backtrack, did a lot of offroading equaling poor MPG's, etc) than anything else.
I built my gas can carrier just a few days before we left, using some plate steel I had laying around. It was pretty basic, but held up just fine.

Awesome pics and trip report!
I was down there for the 1000 and ran the course to Race mile 900 or so… have been down there for the race for the last 6 or so years. Point: would love to go down there just to hang out. We usually camp and this year we took 5 days getting to Loreto and then spent 3 days at the Sante Fe Hotel waiting for the race to start and go to our pits, had a great time, but would be nice to not HAVE to be somewhere at a certain time. Met some surfers from Australia at San Juanico and had a great night of stories by the fire. Wish I could go on the trip planned for after X-mas, but the job will get in the way as that is the busy time of the year for me.
Everyone be safe on the roads down there, you have to be on your game, its safer on the dirt in my opinion. Hope to meet up with some of you guys soon.

Hey Doug, as much as I would love to be down there during the Baja 1k, I think the rush and craziness of the whole thing would change my mindset of what Baja 'is', for me. I'm sure I'd love the racing aspect, but going down and just relaxing and unplugging is so incredibly perfect I'd hate to ruin that.
What race team/class were you in?

We were down there for #1077 (Randy Ellis Designs, KC Highlights sponsored ) Basically a class one with a Gm Ecotech motor. Also support for Mike Palmer in the #57 Trophy.
As previously stated, would love to get down there just to relax, fish, hang on the beach….someday

Hmmm. I might have to figure something out, then....I have an 80 on 35's, so mpg is not in my vocabulary.

There is a very cool Mission de San Francisco De Borja that you can get to outside of Bay off LA to the south on some dirt trails. Tucked away in the mountains with a natural spring to feed the fields, it is a great historical mission initially built in 1762.
I miss Baja!
