Tires are finally in and installed!

Hello Gents!

After a much screwed up tire order process by Pep Boys (and STILL screwed up!), I have 4 out of 5 tires installed.

To top it off, 3 are same tires, 4th one not... long story short:

I order 5 BFG A/T KO and paid upfront the complete order; they order 4 without me knowing. I call after two weeks of no news, and they notice the 5 tires... they order the fifth. Fast forward two more weeks, and I call.. lo and behold, tires are in (they had been sitting in the whse for a week), but only 4, not 5. Told them to install the four tires. Thre tires installed and balanced, but I see a lot of headscratching going on with the 4th... When I ask what happened, the have a different 4th tire, and they have no Idea what it is... I look at the tire and the have 3 KOs, and 1 KO2!!! NOw, I don't have a spare (same sized, mind you), and one different tire. They call and they are being told that the KO is no longer available.

Just to end the story, I told the guy to look for the KO, but if was too much of an issue, Order the KO2, that I wouldn't be paying a single dime more, and install both KOs in the rear, and Use the Missing KO as spare when it arrives... What a stupid mess for such a simple order...

Now, onto the pics... 3 KOs and 1 KO2...

Wow... that's a crazy ride for 5 tires. I say go for the KO2's. I went to Discount and asked about the KO's to save a few bucks and was told that they could get them for me but it would cost more than the KO2's because of it being a special order item now. May be an opportunity.

That's about par for course with ordering tires from Pep Boys, there are threads online discussing similar experiences. And I have to ask, why didn't you go look the tires over at the first sign of an issue with the order, especially with a tire model change? I have had nothing but positive experiences with Discount and Tire Rack.

Yes, price was major decision. $175 per tire, 33x10x15. Problem with discount tires is that due to size, it was no-ship to PR...

Sorry, read the 1st post and all I could think is "yeah pretty standard for those clowns". Bad experience w/service, good experience ordering parts.

Ouch with the price! I knew I had a good deal through 4x4parts at $142 a tire and free pick up, I would argue with them about getting you the right tires.

I was going to say, that looks like PR Cool!!! Indeed shipping to PR can be outrageously expensive, my brother wanted some MTs for his Montero and shipping alone was $1500.

CJ3B, what did you do to the rims? Did you paint them a bit darker or are they polished?

Thanks,
Javy
