'06 Expedition?

Hey there,

A few months before finding this site and a plethora of other overlanding adventure resources, my wife and I bought another second vehicle. A 2006 Ford Expedition 4x4 EB.

I've put a set of Hankook Dynapro ATM's on it, and that's about it. Should I cut my losses and get another vehicle instead (import or older domestic with solid axle)? Or should I try to make this work?

Suggestions?

They work. I'll have to post later from my pc and not phone, but there are a few threads of the 2nd and 3rd gen Expeditions.

Look up Adventure Driven's Ford Expedition "Aspen". He has an amazing 3rd gen build that gets driven everywhere.

Thanks! Great site and great rig.

I'm a big advocate of "run what ya brung." Most vehicles are way more capable than people think. IIRC there are some spacer lift options for the independent suspension, enough that you can easily stuff 33 or even 35" tires underneath.

Had rich buddy in high school with new expedition and was crazy hard on his cars. That car took a beating and kept on ticking. Was amazed at how capable offroad it was. It seemed to do everything and then some and it had no lift or tires. Only problem I recall was some kind of antifreeze leak that ate thru his intake manifold and had to be replaced. Recall one time we drug 1-2,000lbs trees on a wet beach with it, staked them up for a fire.

I have a 2000 Expedition. It handles the duties of car-camping just fine.

Eeerrrr..... I mean "overlanding".
