GXV Mercedes Unimog U500 Worldwide Expedition Vehicle Camper Truck - FOR SALE - Exceptional Oportunity. (European/USA)

Mercedes Unimog U500 Worldwide Expedition Vehicle Camper

FOR SALE

Exceptional Opportnity

Practically new second hand truck, one single owner who is selling for health reasons- Located in southern europe at present moment in a protected place/showroom. 295,000 € (Euros)

This 2005 Mercedes Unimog U500 only had 23,000 km when it was converted into an extreme expedition vehicle by the US well known company Global Expedition Vehicles (GXV - https://www.globalxvehicles.com/ ) in the US in 2010. Both its equipment and more specifically its off-road capabilities have been improved significantly after being bought by the current and single owner. everything, and that is not easy, has been though, designed, and implemented to be used by a single person, even in/and for some special situations (for example changing a tire - almost impossible otherwise - or using the backside winch).

Both the Unimog and the housing module are almost new. The truck is the top-of-the-range version of the Unimog U500 with all optional equipment, including left-hand right-hand drive. It currently has 29,500 km (guaranteed with documentation). The house has been used for 3 months. It has never been used off-road, only 5,000 km on the road in Europe. It has everything necessary for expeditions with maximum equipment’s for great autonomy. All of them are high-end, and the essential systems (heat, electricity, hot water) are redundant or in triplicate, being prepared to reach remote places, where there is no assistance or services. It does not use gas to avoid incompatible systems from different countries. It is 125 V and 220 V, then worldwide capable, with 2 Outback high-end chargers/inverters.

It is worth knowing that it is not a simple campervan, not even a luxury one. But, in this forum and here at Expedition Portal, I'm sure everybody knows precisely what we are talking about, and even better when you will see all info !!. It is something else: an exceptional high-end vehicle, designed for long-distance and long-duration expeditions, with an unprecedented level of autonomy and off-road capabilities.

European Union (originally USA) registration, with all the necessary approval. Does not require tachograph even if tit still has its original USA one. Requires driving license C (heavy truck) in Europe. Specific and attractive sales conditions (to be agreed).

More info and docs available on demand for really interest potencial buyers.

Original batteries, both truck (5) and housing module (3) have been changed. Old ones were too old and one of the big ones in the house was dead.

Before going overlanding to extreme places, changing oils (engine and gearbox) would be recommended. Not because used, but having new fresh ones would be better
.

Thank you.

H.

Beautiful,,, just beautiful. I wish it was in the states!

Importing just sucks for pricing from what I understand! I was looking at a Unimog, Conversion in Poland and the import fees just killed the deal.

Please let me know if I am wrong! 🙏

Out of my lane,

1) if the U500 was converted by GXV in the US, it might have started life as a USA truck and could be imported duty-free. The seller states "European Union (originally USA) registration"

Re-Importing A Previously Exported Vehicle
A vehicle taken from the United States for non-commercial, private use may be returned duty free by proving to CBP that it was previously owned and registered in the United States. This proof may be a state-issued registration card for the automobile or a bill of sale for the car from a U.S. dealer. Repairs or accessories acquired abroad for your vehicle must be declared on your return and may be subject to duty.

2) When the U500s were imported into the USA by Mercedes North America they only paid only 2.5% duty as the U500 was officially described as an “implement carrier” (AKA farm tractor). So if duty was required, perhaps that might work.

3) The duty on the habitat would be 2.5%, so perhaps the 3rd worst case scenario, 2.5% on the habitat, and 25% on the U500

BTW - Oregon has zero percent sales tax 😉

Disclaimer - no relation to the seller or vehicle. No experience as a customs broker, and never played one on TV

Hello

thanks a lot for your kind comment. Yes, I think it's beautifull, and even more when you know what is not directly visible.

I obviously do not know about taxes, procedures, etc... in USA neither about your calculations

But I have seen there is another post from Mog, after yours that i think is quite right. I can confirm that the truck was originnaly registered un USA even a bit before GXV created this great vehicle. I confirm and would be able to send prove, on private communication basis, for really advanced nego with potential buyer. and even if i do not know how it was initially sold in USA, it is a fact that even here in Europe U500 was and still is officially described by Mercedes Benz as an “implement carrier”. Fully true.

thank you for your comment. Regards

Hello

THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT AND YOUR KNOWLEDGE ;) (y)

I copy here after your post and comment on it.

1) if the U500 was converted by GXV in the US IT WAS , it might have started life as a USA truck IT DID AND EVEN 1 OR 2 YEARS BEFORE BEING REGISTERED BY GXV and could be imported duty-free THIS I DO NOT KKNOW BUT I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT. The seller states "European Union (originally USA) registration" YES, THAT'S WHY I STATED THAT

Re-Importing A Previously Exported Vehicle

A vehicle taken from the United States for non-commercial, private use THAT'S IT may be returned duty free by proving to CBP that it was previously owned and registered in the United States. This proof may be a state-issued registration card for the automobile or a bill of sale for the car from a U.S. dealer I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT AND HAVE AT LEAST 1 OR 2 DOCS THAT COULD PROVE THAT.

YES, IMPLEMENT CARRIER IS THE NORMAL WAY THIS VEHICLE IS CONSIDERED ALSO IN EUROPE BY MERCEDES

3)
The duty on the habitat would be 2.5%, so perhaps the 3rd worst case scenario, 2.5% on the habitat, and 25% on the U500. I THINK THAT IS RIGHT AND COULD EASYLY BE DONE THAT WAY IF NEEDED FOR THIS SOLUTION

THANKS

I ALSO CONFIRM YOUR DISCLAMER IN RELATION TO ME OR TO THE TRUCK
