Zodi Tent Heater

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
Pretty much brand new. Something I've held on to for years but never used other than firing up occasionally (and it works excellently). It is the same as the 9174 heater seen here with two 3' tubes and the 12 volt low consumption fan. No carrying case.

Retail over $200-$250 if I remember correctly. Works very well and these can be adjusted to be very powerful if needed.

$100 shipped in continental US..

thanks,
Andre

Wow that was quick. If Signcutter21 doesn't come through for some reason it's Sergeant_V and CarlsbadRover next.

thanks guys,
Andre

The Zodi web site shows none of the tent heater models being available anymore. Is there a story behind this, or a product liability worry?

Zodi discontinued the tent heater because of meltdowns. If the battery on the fan dies while the heater is running it melted plastic parts and caused some pieces to get very hot. It wasn't an official fire hazard recall, but enough to stop selling the product. Good product, but you shouldn't let it run overnight without a good power source for the fan.

Zodi have apparently been in development of a new version, but it's been almost 2 years now.

Bummer that it is just the fan as well which is a pretty small component in the system. Interestingly they still sell the fan it appears...

The heater has sold! Signcutter if this isn't OK let me know and I'd be happy to refund your $$... My thought is the fan is so little, in theory he could buy a 12V fan from even a truck stop (they're only something like $6) and even duct tape it in.

Andre,

I don't think anyone should worry about buying one of these (in fact if I saw it first I would have bought it!). With responsible use it's a nice heater. Nothing was recalled, it's just that you have to ensure you don't let the fan die.

I agree, I use one of these heaters and it has kept my tent warm many nights.

Andre, thanks for your concern. I think as mountainpete said, with responsible use, it'll be ok. This is very informative information, thanks much.
