Build of the X-Lander 80

What country is it from? Or did someone add the side marker lights and door strip tape?

Looks like a fun project!

Brian, What appears to be marker lights are actually the badging for the Collectors Edition (CE). The 40th Anniversary and the CE all came with the side molding as well.

Thanks Grease for listing the info. :)

I should have mentioned at the start of the thread that I'm purchasing most of my parts from Christo Slee and the guys at Slee Off Road (shameless plug! :sombrero:) as well as having them help with some of the wrenching.

Phase one of the build is coming along... So far I have done most of the standard p.m.-ing, added a 4" suspension with all new control arms, pan hard rod etc. I kept the Inti roof rack from my old truck and got that on today. I still need to design the lay out of the electrical system in order to get the rack lights hooked up, that will be in a later phase.

Here are some pictures from today.

Oh, and the decal on the rear window is part of phase one as well. :sombrero:

Diggin' those steelies! I should try mine out on the 40. Any trouble with rubbing on the suspension or steering?

Matt, I test fit them on the rear with no spacers and they fit fine, the front might have rubbed on the control arms.

Finally got the snorkel, they have been on back order for a few weeks. On my old 80 I used it to help run the wires down from the roof rack lights verses making a hole in the roof, so the plan is to do the same again. Benefits and need for the snorkel are questionable, but it's an easy way to run the wires under the hood.

That's the old INTI off your first 80 right? I'd still like to open mine open to accept a larger diameter light.

Yep, from the one that got away! :) I made the light cage from scratch so I could use the Hella 4000's, now they have the compact 4000's with less lens choices however. I do like the overall larger size as it helps with protecting other things on the rack.

More progress made this weekend... Snorkel installation!!! Always fun to drill big holes into a perfectly good fender. All went well, didn't have to drill the holes as big as the directions say to.

Before I finalize the install, I will run the wire for the roof rack lighting inside the snorkel and to the engine bay.

Next up: Axle rebuild, everything new with Toyota parts, 4.88 ring and pinion, ARB lockers, DBA rotors and rebuild the brakes.
