JK Nth Degree Suspension

I own a 2008 JK 2 Dr. I put an AEV front bumper on and it now sags. I am looking for a suspension lift that will handle the add ons. If I purchase a nth degree suspension and have Jeep install it will they still honor the factory warranty. Also if I install this suspension and put 35 inch tires on will 4.88s bring the gearing back to a stock ratio.

First off good choice on the front bumper. I would look at Nth degrees suspension lift or I chose a stage III synergy lift from www.polyperformance.com. If price point is a concern Teraflex makes a great spacer kit for the JK.(It will clear 35" tires.) Whether Jeep will honor the factory warranty is up to Jeep. My guess is maybe but they are going to charge you an arm and a leg to have it installed. Why not just have a reputable shop install it. If something fails on the suspension Jeep is not going to warranty an aftermarket part. I am currently running 315/75/16 Goodyear MTR's(35") tires and installed 5:13 gears. 4:88 would be fine if you have a manual. I have an automatic and 4 door. I also tow my Chaser trailer. Fuel economy is going to go down drastically with 35". I am currently getting 12.8 in the city and 14.8 on the highway. Although I have a roof rack that adds to the drag. On a side note Jerry(1leg) is running my old Teraflex spacer kit with 255/85/16(33") tires. He has the stock gears and is a two door. He is averaging 18 miles per gallon.

Pictured below is my Jeep as it sits with the Polyperformance lift and MTR tires.

Your post doesn't say what version of JK you have (for gearing question). If you have the Rubi with 4:11 then yes, 4:88 w/35's will bring you back to stock numbers. I can send you a spread sheet that you can plug in tire sizes and gear options and see and speed w/RPM to compare anything you want. Just say the word.

The AEV lift kits are AWESOME! No matter the trail or speed they are incredible. There really isn't anything that I would assume would affect a warranty as their lift is simple in design yet extremely affective. It's not hard to install as it just takes a few drill holes for brackets and simple shop tools. It's easily done in a weekend. Now.....it's not a severe rock crawling setup BUT it does wonderfully on what I would assume anything you would feel comfortable on. It sticks with stock arms and bushings and gets the suspension geometry right on. From experience it is SOLID and smooth at 115 MPG (easy folks, don't flame!) and is just as happy off-road. In my opinion, for the money, AEV has it nuts on!!

I've installed 3 of them now to include removing one then reinstalling it back on a set of of Currie D60 axles. Go to AEV's forums for anything you could possibly want to know.

In my opinion, the Nth Degree suspension is the only product on the market that combines high-speed handling, load carrying capacity and trail performance into a single product. Jim Frens is brilliant.

Yes, Jim F. designed a lift kit that when installed totally out performs the stock Jeep in all situations and environments. I'll second that he's a brilliant designer, and real nice fellow as well.

Not to scoonch in on the OP, but I am going to run the AEV 3.5". Four door, auto. I will have both AEV front and rear bumpers and an expo rack... with most likely a RTT. There is a chance I will have an expo trailer (chaser category/size styling) meaning the RTT would be lower and behind - but with the added weight. 35" MTR Kevlars. I am trying to decide on gears. 4.56 according the typical charts I used back in the TJ days, but I don't want to go to small. This will be an expo rig so crawl (or better yet down hills) speed is about as important as fuel economy. Those experienced with this kind of build / weight JK... what gears do you recommned?

On a side note, Scott, I need to give you a call soon if that is ok. Chris at AEV suggested I ring you about a project we are working on.

TJ Willy, what transmission are you running? Auto/Manual..Rubicon? I'll give you something that will make your decision making a lot easier.

One thing to keep in mind, TJWilly, is that the Sahara comes stock with tires that claim to be 32" but actually measure 31".
Bear that in mind when you pick your gears...
I have an autotrans Sahara also and am running 285/75-16 tires right now; they measure 32.3". I've got 4.56 gears and often wish I had installed 4.88.

If I were you, I'd seriously consider 5.13 for your 35's.

Thanks. That is what I was thinking especially with the weight. I ran 4.56 with my TJ on 35's and 36's b/c that is what the chart said to do... but I often wish I had gone 4.88's.

I really want the best possible fuel economy as my rig is also my everyday driver.

Thanks again.

Mike, would you mind explaining how to make use of the chart? Particularly for 35s. Thanks.
Look at the sheet for the appropriate tire size. The top of the chart has gear ratio and transmission gears. Left side is the engine RPM. Chart shows speed. You then can compare that number with different tire sizes on the other pages.

2500 is what was my cruise RPM goal with my Hemi so that's why it's highlighted in yellow. No other reason.

Beyond that, I don't know what to say. Hope that helps.

First. I have an AEV 4.5" and 35s (37s soon) and LOVE it. Wonderful suspension.

Secondly, I have a 4 door auto (rubi) and run 5:13s. The stock OD on the auto is WAY WAY too deep.

An auto JK with 35s and 5:13 is within 50rpm (yes 50) of a stock 6 speed rubi(4:10 on 32s.) at highway speeds. The auto really needs a bit deeper gearing.

I towed this car from Flagstaff, Az to Denver, Co with 35s/5:13. Set the cruise at 65mph and it towed the whole way in OD at 19mpg. Only had to drop out of OD to pull Raton pass.

(Not the AEV suspension in the picture, this was a RockKrawler 3.5" I had before the AEV 4.5")
