The eternal question: ICON's or SAW's?

just changing the spring will do nothing to the valving, it is constant unless u have it changed. if the valving is on the light side and you have a stiff spring it wont contol it well, and u will bounce around a bit more that the reason why bilstein shocks arent recomended with ome coils

It does not directly change the valving, but if the valving was set with a softer coil initially, throwing a stiffer spring rate into the mix will definitely affect how the valving feels. That being said, most people don't bother with revalving when they switch to a new spring. Especially with Icon or SAW since their customer service is junk. Luckily for me KING is in Garden Grove which is a 15 minute drive for me and I can get them worked on in less than an hour. If you send off your SAW's don't expect them back for a couple weeks.

it has nothing to do with valving it affect reboud and compression, bit it does not change. get you shoud pair your coils with your struts, but not doing so wont change how the shock was built

It was near impossible to decipher your post but I think I got the gist of it. It's basically what I had previously said. It does not affect the valving directly, but the compression rate of the coil is taken into account when the shocks are initially valved. Changing the spring rate to a different compression ratio will work differently with the valving.

It doesn't apply so much with CO's that are all built identically and thrown out to shops. It is, however, something to take into account when getting shocks or coilovers custom valved.

I agree that most will not end up adjusting their COs often. For my Kings I really have to take them off to adjust them.

Just a seat of the pants judgement, but I know a number of guys with Icon/Donahoe that started to leak with low miles. That said, their digressive valving works very well.

I have Toytec COs on my 1st GEN Tacoma and I've been happy so far with them. Price is cheaper, but they are NOT rebuildable, just Bilstein 5100s with a threaded body. Seem to be doing fine with the ARB bumper and a winch.

That's really interesting that people are choosing to go with all new equpment rather than having their old stuff rebuilt. Personally, that is an attractive feature of the c/o's. Being able to rebuild them when/if they wear out.

I had issues with the lower joints wearing out if that makes sense. The bolt fit snug. Slee told be they had seen that before and recommended greasing them once a month. I also didn't like rebuilding them every 20k thousand mile. I had SAWs so maybe that extra couple hundred on ICONS is worth it. The SAWs handle great but rode rough below 35mph. I just think OME or Bilstien is better on dd. There are not a lot of places in Colorado to really push coilovers either if that helps.

rebuild?

Who rebuilds SAW's? I'm willing to pay someone else to rebuild mine. They show signs of leaking. They have been under there through a few MN winters, and look really nasty on the outside.

I'm not sure I want to deal with it myself.

SAW can do it but don't expect them back for a while.

Contact any off-road/suspension shops in your area. They may be able to accommodate you.
