Day 18 Cont.
HIDs
I went with these lights, in the 5000k flavor.
12V 50/55W H4-3(9003) Bi-Xenon HID Kit - $68.99 : VVME.COM, Car Parts, HID KIT, Tattoo Kit, Ballast, Bulbs
From the drivers perspective these lights still look stock, just way BRIGHTER.
HID'S in Canada: All Canadian Vehicles have daytime running light (DRL) modules. This setting only provides something like 7v instead of 12v needed for the HIDs. I have even heard that it is harmful to run them at lower voltages.
Thus I unplugged my DRL module and turn my lights on Manually.
Installation Photos.
It can be a bit of a challenge finding a secure place for the ballasts without lengthening the wires. It is also important to get a very good ground to each ballast.
Passenger side (I removed the battery for installation)
Drivers Side. It kind of inhibits flow to the airbox, hopefully that problem will be solved with a snorkel.
My only complaint is that the inline fuse is not protected from the elements.
I am very happy with these lights!
