I've considered a full length rack like that, actually. there are several land rovers that I've seen that needed the storage area, for specific tasks.
It'd make a jeep like a pickup, IMO. you could carry lumber like a madman!
talk about weight high up, though, and wind resistance, too.

Several years ago I had an 2000 XJ that I added a front hitch to. I was a finish carpenter at the time, and frequently had the need to haul 20" pieces of material(baseboard, casing, etc.). I devised something almost identical to this....

Basically just plugged into the hitch receiver in the front. I just used the factory roof rails for the back portion of the material. Worked great! It would be cool to make something that was removable. Or even what about a standard looking roof rack basket with an open front(see mine in "homemade roofracks" thread) that was hinged at the front edge. So when closed, you'd have a standard looking rack with a double-thick floor. It could flip open and then attach to an removable support like the one shown above. Picture a Flip-Pac camper style motion!

Basically, it will list all the vehicles in a certain movie, or you can search by vehicle make, model, etc. Really great resource. It even includes foreign movies, TV shows, everything. In the Cherokee section alone, there were 590 different results.
