Just finished my overland trailer, trailer originally from swiss army:

The frames in front of the fenders are jerry can holders which I use to put in 5 galon water cans.

It opens to both sides. If you take out the hinge pins on all four corners and remove the lid you can use it as a regular trailer. To be towed behind my Pinzgauer 710:

that is super super cool setup

I lived for a year in the bay islands on Utila so used to go up to Guatemala once in a while spent a month backpacking around by public bus and had a great time
while Panajachel (Gringo Town) is a lot more touristy the lake is amazing and the areas around it were amazing spent about 5 days their and the rest of the time just traveling and knocking on doors offering a few quetzalas to crash at locals houses !!! great way to see and meet the people
this was about 18 years ago though ? so been a while and not sure how much has changed in almost 20 years but I would think a lot ?

Nice! I really like how the lid can open from either side.

Had my first top (M416 trailer) so it could open from front or rear. Now with the RTT, it really only needs to open from one side.

Nice setup!:coffeedrink:

Honu, 18 years ago Panajachel was also my favorite hangout, a great place to enjoy the lake and "fiesta". Nothing like spagetti al pesto in the Circus Bar, or a really late (or early) last drink at The Last Resort (translated into "spanisch " as El Ultimo Resorte). Guatemala is still a beautiful place, a little violent at the time due to being a drug transfer zone of illegal substances on their way towards the US. However, if you know how to behave (straight common sense, when inRome do as the Roman's). Still, you can do expeditions and camp if you know the area.

Can I see a close up of your water can holders? Did you fab them or buy them? I was thinking about the same thing for my M100 but am not sure if I'll be able to get the cans in and out past the trailer's grab handle. I haven't been able to find any suitable holders, yet, to test (and can't weld any of my own).

if you have a gallery of any camping pics in that area would love to see them

Errant, they are Swiss taken off of Steyr A680 trucks. The important aspect is that the hinged part (or where you slide the can in), is highly steeled, so it keeps the can in place with pressure w/o sliding or rattling. Off course, this being Guatemala, under lock and key:

HONU, unfortunately no pictures yet, just finished the trailer. Can share other camping pictures in Guatemala if you like. Please confirm.

Harald, the track is similar, but unfortunately different rims. The swiss trailer is a copy of the US WII trailer wi th jeep rims. Will be mounting a spare tire on the back of the trailer soon and post pitures once it it done.

I would like to install electric brakes on the trailer, and have absolutely no experience with this. Any suggestions?
