Anyone own one of these

The owner/fabricator is on this forum as well as several others, such as MJR. His handle is "newimage".

I have not seen his trailers in person, but he is very helpful and knowledgable over the phone! He does a lot of custom builds, so if you're looking for a lid, I'm sure it would be no problem.

Just amazing how similar his small multi-purpose trailer is to my trailer and design I posted on here a few months before that showed up......:Wow1:

Could not see any pictures in your thread.

Anyhow, I just found another local source who has offerings very much like Sierra4x4 and others who have tub layout similar to the military designs.

those images have been up on his website long before your thread appeared,
so my guess is he must make time machines as well as trailers.... j/k :sombrero:

Not quite right. The particular one I'm referring to here was introduced on this site 2 months after. There were certainly larger and different versions on the site before that. I have deleted my text and images from my thread so unless you vividly remember it you won't be able to make a comparison. However the design criteria I put up plus photos and design drawings show close similarity. Maybe it was just coincidental timing?? Can't be sure, but I certainly didn't see the "multi purpose" trailer being actively promoted by them prior. I do know I can't lay claim to the idea of the multi purpose trailer however.

That said, I'm sure there's a market for them so hope he's doing well.

I have owned one of these trailers now for almost a year now. I have been making modifications as time goes on. It is a perfect little trailer for me. The price is right and I'm not afraid to weld anything to it.. (My main fear of buying an AT Chaser) I'm not stuck with the design from factory. Rick (new image) worked with me to get me the dimensions and style I was after. Knowing in my heart and mind I could make the necessary mods over time. This past weekend I made a ramp on the front for my CT70 mini trail bike which created too much tongue weight. So now I'm in the process of moving the axle forward a couple of inches to balance it out and I'm making the fenders a little wider to accommodate more storage boxes for batteries behind the axle. If I were to do it again I would do a couple of things different (rear view mirror syndrome) .. but that's the beauty of it, you can change it, your not stuck with a modular design. Work on it, use it, figure out something else you want to add and add it.

When I got it all it had was the RTT, 1 front storage box and Electric brakes... now it has rear swing away tire carrier with spare that will also hold a lumber rack, swing up table for 2 burner stove, 4 lb mounted propane, a lid, 2 steel storage boxes that are removable (1) for mini bike ramp or both for flat bed hauling, and an interior slide out drawer which is basically my galley..

Ok....So here's the answer to your question... Where's the build thread ? I barely have time to work on and maintain TJ, Mod TJ and ORT without stopping every five minutes to snap a picture, upload and then tell all about it, while patting myself on the back. I do enjoy this forum however I don't understand where these guys get all the time to build stuff and then write a report about it when they're done. If I did a thread every time I did something in my garage I would never get anything done and I would be sitting in front of my computer all day.

Bottom line is I would and have recommended buying one of these trailers if you don't have the time, skills and tools to build your own. Don't be suckered by over priced modular trailers that you can't modify without destroying the integrity and strength of the trailer. If I had a bottomless pit of money and time I would build my own from the ground up, but I have neither mentioned. So I purchased the ORT from New Image and I am very pleased with it, customer service and Rick's willingness to get me what I wanted made it an easy purchase... Plus he delivered it to my house at no charge...

It will never be finished..

I'm looking for a sportsmobile and I will be selling this trailer, If you're interested in it let me know. Someday I will post up some pics. Meanwhile here's a link to my picasa page...

That Looks familiar ..

how many dollars will it take for you to drive it home ?

If you know something about it please tell. :) It may look familiar because it copies the same basic lines of the military tubs that Sierra 4x4 and others use. Supposedly it was built late last year as a first model and has low miles.

As for price, we'll see. The asking price was fairly "optimistic" and I'd be better off ordering a new rig from a current manufacturer if I paid that much. I started out looking at military surplus but doing all of the reconditioning work is unrealistic for me. Mil trailers for sale that have been rebuilt are priced at $2k to $3k but don't have tailgates or lids and I can't pay a shop $65/hour to add those. That is why I'm also looking at more complete trailers.

Who knows, there is no pressing need to have one. I just thought it would be fun! I'm supposed to see it later today.

I don't know anything about it, I was saying that it looks similar to an AT Chaser. I'm interested in what axle they used.

Trailers are fun especially if you're going out for more than a couple of nights.
