You got some pics Jonathan-just not on the trail but I think we were both a little too busy wheeling at the time.

Sam, there is a end of season run in December, I don't know if the date has been set.

cannot do this w/e sadly- especially after missing URE for the first time. The Dec run is great, smaller group, very enjoyable.
Sam- I'm game for the 14th, should be a hoot with those guys- usually a good group of guys. Keep me posted.

How was your drive from out east? Really really nice looking truck you own..

Great meeting you as well, I wish I had more time to check out your rig but you where headed off to the "c" trails and I was headed to the A and B's. Did you have your 90 or the RRC? Did you do Daniel?

The drive was lengthy but nice. I stuck to two lanes from Raleigh east as 64 from Asheboro is lower pace and was not busy at all. It was nice driving a highway that follows the contours of the land and goes through the small towns that have been passed over by the high speed 4 lanes. The driving position sort of forces you to take a break every 2-3 hours so overall your pace slows down and you actually see what's around you. That is one of the things I like the best about this old beast. I also enjoyed all the looks I got from people as they tried to figure out what that slow, noisy thing is. It took 5 hours from Eldorado to home with a 1/2 hour stop in Cary (REI) and one fuel stop.

I was on the green Defender SW, I did leave Saturday after lunch from the trail unfortunately. Are you planning on going back? I was surprised to see such a nice truck in the woods, a lot of people would never consider it. I did Daniel on Friday the first ledge was a bit nerve racking but over all not so bad. I dont think I have any need to do it again but Im sure I will.

Yeah I'll go again,I'm not sure if the December trip will work out but the one on April should. I was a little nervous about taking the IIa on the trai, mainly because I had to drive it home but it was designed for that kind of use and was definately in it's element. Careful placement of tires and knowing when to bypass was the rule of the day. The group I was with made sure to spot me and let me know when to not even try it. I think they where as nervous as I was to avoid damage.

I noticed several people not with our group taking pictures and such and wondered why, then I realized that it's not everyday you see a 46 year old IIa on the trail-either that or they wanted to see Scott's series III lightweight.

You should have stuck around-the dinner and raffle/auction was fun.
