Honda Element

I have owned 2 of these. it was great back east when i lived at sea level but when i had one out in colorado it was really weak.

the amount of interior space in the E is amazing. 4 adults fit very comfortably and the rear seats are easily removed creating a ton of space. And contrary to popular belief you should not use a garden hose to clean the interior.

The MPG is pretty bad for a 4cyl and the range was pretty short. The interior road noise is pretty loud.

It really is too bad Honda is killing the Element as many disabled folks really like them
The low floor and wide door space make them a great alternative mobility build.
Plus the AWD setup helped in foul weather.

Again too bad

I really liked the Element and wanted to buy one when we were in the market after turning in our Focus at lease end (loved the Focus, never had any issues). It was between the Element and Scion XB - it was for the wife and she decided for the XB because the rear windows didnt roll down and the rear doors sucked. Go figure we would sell the XB and buy an FJ with the exact same issues - we were both reassured we made the right decision initially with the XB because if you have kids, the rear seat fire drill is really horrible to live with, for a couple it would be ideal.

We owned an Element, and the reasons we got rid of it all had to do with having two elementary-school-aged kids. Could really have used a 5th seat to haul a friend and the rear door situation was awful with children that age.

We hauled our goats to/from the vet in the Element more than once...

The Element is the only vehicle my wife and I could settle on. The way Toyota treated me with my frame on my Tacoma left a bad taste in my mouth for getting another Toyota (even though I still own and love it) so a FJ and Rav were out. Everything else we looked at in our price range ... there was always
something that either one of us didn't like. We have a Tacoma and Rover so off-road capabilities were not a high priority.

Would I take it wheeling? No, it was not intended for anything more than a gravel road but I have heard some have tried :Wow1:. For a daily commuter, our little 5 speed is perfect! :smiley_drive: It is perfect for camping too as long as the path is not too crazy ... and if it is, we take the Rover. We plan on driving the Element into the ground ... I expect another 17 years out of our 2008.

if they've made the element to have the same ground clearance as say.. a ford escape.. i would still have kept mine..

Element upgrade.

I met a guy at the beach in a AWD Element who'd installed a 2" coil spacer lift all the way around. Really toughened that sucker up. He'd welded up a full roof rack also. The Element had survived many a trip to the Seven Sisters area of Pacific Baja. Beige w/black molding and black rims. Tires were one size up BFG AT's as I remember. Manual tranny. Didn't have my camera on me.
