Spoke with Doc over at Springtailsolutions.com about a design for a backpack hook setup for the 80, he is currently making them for the FJ crowd, he is interested in meeting my request and the request of several other 80 owners who have expressed similiar interest for this product. Depending on the interest, need at least 20 orders, he will start the production for the 80 series. Below is an example of the backpack hook.

Does not pose safety hazard when you are in an accident and you head slaps back? Is it possible that you neck can come into contact with the leading edge of the bracket?

What about someone sitting in the back seat during an accident ?

This seems worthless then. Most of us have bought a four door vehicle as we will have passengers in the back seat.

Now hold on Viggen... looks like a handy place to drape a satchel charge or hang an AK next time you go driving though DC with the Taliban-mobile. :coffeedrink:

Gentlemen-

Respectfully, this is a "feeler" to gauge interest, appreciate the helpful criticism, but to help keep things simple just indicate if you are interested.

If that is the case, should it not be in the for sale/ merchandise section?

I guess I'm more confused as to what this thing does. What is the purpose or benefit over just putting the pack on the floor?

Point taken. The product has already been field proven with the FJs, after approaching springtail about a 80 series model, they agreed that if the demand was there for the back pack hook they would follow up and offer a 80 series model. I felt that since the is a vehicle specific product, then this would be the best section to gauge interest.

Gomen Nasai. I don't know about those other fellows gentleness or not, but since you're gauging interest why are the Tacoma owners being left out? I almost always have a ruck with me too, and a First Responder kit hanging from the other seat back! I need one of these; I have been consistently creating a "gear adrift" condition in my seatless extended cab for years now and this piece of gear could remediate this condition.

The entrepreneur in me says why not just measure the distance bewteen the headrest pillars and their diameter - Toyota standardizes a lot of their components and this device might have a much wider application out of the box... just saying - don't have any facts to base it on.

TB-

No need to apologize ;) I'll run the taco BPH request by Doc at springtail.... Honestly, I have been applying positive pressure to him since Dec '10, he has finally agreed to this request per my intial description. I agree with a simple measurement between the pillars and he could even offer a blank solution that is DIY by the customer, but apparently there is more to it. I am assuming it may be the seat contour leaving the base of the head rest pillars?

Van....This is a great idea!

Thanks for doing the feeler work to get this going.

Put me down for 1 possibly 2 of these very handy contraptions.

It would be interesting if they would fit headrests throughout the vehicle (i.e, some people might use it on the back seats)
