How is it that you keep stealing all of my ideas before I even have them. Great project, and the service bed is very innovative. I've been wanting to find one to make a trailer.

took a bunch of measurements and it looks like I can drop service bed down 8.5" without any issues of strength with the bed..which will raise my bed camper 4" higher then it used to be.

I really wanted it the same height as before, so I think I will cut what I need and set it down and see if there is room to drop it another 4" if possible.

if I can not lower it more then 8.5" the overall height of camper will still be under 9'6'

If you cut the sides off, could you mount them to the side of the trailer and line up with the width of the fenders? You could mount them on stakes if you want them removable.

I would have gone with basic side boxes, but I take the easy way out when I can afford to. which is probably why I can't afford much...

well after taking a ton of measurements and searching the web for weights on these beds.. I decided I need to cut some weight..

so I am going to cut up the bed and just use the two sides and mount the boxes to the trailer

I cut off the front and also got the tailgate off, but I had to stop since I kept setting the grease in bed on fire :) just could not breath in shop anymore.

looks like you were right on the money with just using boxes.

well slowly getting back into it more..

found a place online that makes reproduction rims for my trailer

so I got 2 of them so I can have spares for next season

Would you please share who it is that makes repro Dexter wheels. I could use a few myself and they're getting very difficult to find.

I can appreciate all the work that went into that! I've drug home rusty/beat up stuff before and the wife just shakes her head and sighs. There's nothing like turning a lump of coal into a diamond...Nicely done.
