2011 Grand Cherokee lift

Im looking in to a new Grand right now. I have a baby coming and I need something bigger than my JK (2 door) and less work than my Rover. I would be selling both the Wrangler and the Discovery. I really like the new Grand, test drove one with the3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and it was really nice. By far the nicest vehicle I have ever driven. even with out the air ride witch I don't want.

I want to look into what after market there was or is going to be. I know I would more than likely have to make a winch mount to hide in the front bumper and I would make a custom roof rack to look like the AEV Mojave rack. However the only lift I can find is made by Rocky Road outfitters.

We had one for a few months. Wonderful machine, and something I would buy. Ours had the air suspension

Rock Krawler makes a 3.5" lift for the WK.

Incorrect, their lift only covers the solid axle rear WK, the "Jeep" in question is a 2011 that has IRS and isn't compatible. I really wish Jeep had been bought out by Renault a few years back, their plan was to put solid axles back under Jeeps and rumor was to put the 3.5 motor out of the Z under the hood. Now that would have been bad-***!

The independent suspension is not as bothersome me as much as it use too. I have gotten over all that long ago and it seams that the Grand will be able to do any and every thing I really want it to. I would like to see if AEV is going to do anything but i Know they are tight lip about new stuff and are thinking about steering away from every thing but the JK now. Seems that Rocky Road might be all that out there.
Well see I guess.

Why not switch to a 4 door JK with hard top?

2012s should be pretty sweet... I know the interior is not as grand as a Grand but pretty wow for a Wrangler.

obviously lots of aftermarket support.

just a thought.

Mostly because of the ride and for how much they want for Wranglers now I would rather have a Grand. I like the 4 door JKs don't get me wrong and that the first thing I was looking at but the lady of the house is tired of bouncing around every where we go.

gotcha. the prices for the JKs are high... but it is a pretty amazing Jeep.

I'd be interested in a ride comparison of a JK Unlimited with the premium AEV vs a Grand. And you could plush out the JK for the lady with leather, heated seats, etc. ;>

nonetheless I'm looking forward to your Grand build

Its not really the leather and all the other bells'n'whistle its really just the jarring ride and I can see where she is coming from. As to the AEV lift, Theres really no was that a solid axel vehicle can ever compete with independent suspensions on the ride. It is want it is and a Wrangler dose it job better and most other 4x4s on the road. But I don't need the best rock crawler on earth. I need capable and comfortable 4x4.

If you could ride in my '08 JKUR, both on/off-road (her to) you'd be surprized by the Taylored ride-it can be customized per terrain, from sublime to very controlled-

Good luck !!

Looks like you just walked into the "Buy a JK" Dealership. Please don't get scared away.

Have you seen a Grand with a 2 inch lift (I think RR has a 2.5) They look very solid and have a definite increase in stance. You can clear a 32 I believe and switching rims to a 15/16 might be very clean. Add on a new bumper and the extra smooth coils which you still have and I would love to do something similar. As for the roof rack, I cannot help that much because I do not know what style mounting system you are in to but I know you can get a great overland ready/ 2 inch lifted grand.

You and others are missing fact that the 2011 "Jeep" GC has IRS and nobody makes a lift for it yet, please actually read the thread before posting. Part of your post made very little sense at all.

Sorry "bud", but a few spacers and brackets hardly constitute a real lift. And if you have ever personally dealt with RR you would know they are a bunch of morons, good luck though....
