This is the first time we've ever offered any promotion like this for the Expedition Ops Shower Mat.

As you may have seen from the Summer issue of the Overland Journal, our product is made in the US in our shop in Minneapolis of reclaimed Redwood and recyclable materials.

We are proud to offer the Expedition Ops Shower Mat to the Overlanding community, as this was designed by an Overlander for Overlanding.

Happy Holidays and keep the rig dirty!

Thanks,

Jeremy, thanks for the offer. I see in the photo a hose running from your jerry can to the shower, is that just gravity fed or is there more to that setup. Thanks & happy thanksgiving!

Wesel is correct. That is Dave Druck aka adventureduo's photo and rig. The system is a Helton hot water/shower system.

My personal system uses a fixed mount 12v pump and a Helton heat exchanger. Dave is using, if I recall correctly, the Helton kit with quick connects mounted on the bumper.

Let me know if you'd like more info on the Helton systems, I'm more than happy to answer any question you may have.

We love our shower mat and it goes on every trip. Not just for showers, but as a door mat for our trailer.. or to wash pot and pans out on. It's a great piece of kit.

Yeah the Helton hot shower uses a pump from a cigarette and forum sponsor Cruiseroutfitters is the USA importer.

Thanks Dave.
As you may have noticed, Dave is a big supporter of ours and is responsible for a lot of great photography of the Expedition Ops Shower Mat.

Anyone used these Solar systems? Just looking for some feedback. I would like to get a fridge for my truck but don't really have space for a second battery so maybe one of these would be a good alternative...

RBrown,

I have been using the 40w and 80w since May quite extensively. The 80w panels have run my fridge while putting a small charge back into the battery. I think that this is a feasible option to help slow the drain on a single battery system. Depending on what your travel style is like something as compact as a 40w could do the trick as well. I think the key to a fridge and a single battery system is a voltage battery cutoff, either inline or as part of the fridge.

Let me know what specific questions you may have.

What is your intended use? # of days out and stopped without driving the truck, etc.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Maybe a couple days parked if I find the right spot but probably no more than 3 days on average w/out driving a couple hours.

If all you are using for electrical is an efficient 12v fridge 3 days should be fine for a 40w. Check the tech specs for your fridge. Off the top of my head the 40w puts out 2.3amps in a perfect world, so realistically 2amps mid day sun. The 80w is double that output and the 120w. 2amps is a similar charge that your battery charger puts out on low setting (2,6,12amp) if you wanted to experiment with a running fridge and 4-6hrs of 2amp charge.

Proper packing of your fridge will reduce its draw, frozen goods on the bottom and produce up higher, does wonders. As well as precooling the fridge prior to packing, etc.

What are your parked electrical draws?

Only have the VisionX LED lights under the truck now with nothing else really. My radio and lighting is taken care of via a Goal0 27W panel and 120 battery pack. I just want a fridge and in my regular cab Tacoma there isn't much room for a second battery. Most of my trips are 3 nights 2 days w/out running the truck but am going to DV in a couple weeks and wouldn't mind having a fridge w/ solar backup for the trip(early xmas present to myself).Don't need to overdo the power but also don't want to under-do it either.

40w should work. Which fridge do you have or are you looking at?
