PM's replied. Regarding shipping - obviously local pick up is preferred as I do not have a wooden crate for the tent, but if you can facilitate an alternative form of transportation I can definitely help, like 'Mudship' etc. Snow photos taken in NM, but let it be known I have seen a flake...

Big Bend National Park - a few photos

I have not had a chance to get to the Davis Mountains - but I would like to. And yes, I am a geologist, albeit an office geologist who never touches rocks... From Houston it will be around 10 hours to get into the heart of the park (well past the entry point). That's taking it pretty easy on...

Big Bend National Park - a few photos

Thanks. The park has a very diverse geology, which makes it fantastic. The volcanic influence is stunning. The Chisos Mountains are intrusive volcanics, and throughout the park you see dykes and extrusives. In a 5 minute walk you can go from marine shales, to limestone to volcanics. The...

Big Bend National Park - a few photos

Had about 6 days back at Big Bend National Park over Thanksgiving. It was very cold and we arrived to snow all over the Chisos. Unfortunately in our hurry to get into the Chisos campground before they shut the road, we didn't take any pictures of the snow. Remarkably, and very disappointingly...

What camera do you carry on the trails?

Leica M8 50mm Summilux ASPH 28mm Summicron ASPH I switched from DSLR over a year ago. The M system will be my system for life. Might grab a Leica M 240 later on. Also a Leica X1 or X2 for the wife.

Sven Saw folding saw appreciation thread

Having spent a couple of nights of very cold camping, and using a lot of fire wood, I really had a chance to use the Sven Saw for the first time. It is light weight, very solid when assembled, doesn't rattle when stowed, and cuts very very well. I highly recommend it. Cold Camping by p.60/128...

NL Dual Battery Kit - Troubleshooting help

Just wanted to bump this thread. I had exactly the same problem when I changed out batteries - user error! Thankfully the kit included a spare 50amp fuse. Problem solved. Ash
