I agree, the EXP model is intriging and somewhat unique. The Terranova isn’t unique enough…. I would have thought maybe a Bliss Mobil model would work. A box that you add options to and supply your own truck. FX and EXP would fit that model.

Interesting update: https://www.truckcamperadventure.com/earthcruiser-back-in-business/

Instead of full, integrated builds, they'll be selling shells to upfitters.

I want EC to be successful! I do worry this puts them in a more crowded and competitive space.

I also personally felt like EC's biggest differentiator was specifically that they had engineered a shell, interior, and chassis to work together really well. I've seen more videos than I can count of Lance describing the center of gravity on the vehicles, how they keep the weight lower, how the systems and chassis all work together, etc.

The potentially lower price-point with this model is very compelling, but also maybe dilutes some of what made EC different from Total Composites, Cascadia Composites, Bison Overland, etc.

Maybe you should take that degree in anthropology, show it to them, use your dazzling personality to compel them to hire you, and you can tell them how to do it.

I thought they ended that project?

I dunno - posted today.

I dont understand why they are investing any more into this. Is the Hummer market really that big? Is that market chomping at the bit to drop $100,000 on a bed camper? Disappointing, would rather see them focus back on the overland market that is actually there.

To be fair, this is a brilliant choice compared to the companies that put money into Cybertruck camper ideas....

Compared to the CT market maybe, but why not invest into products for vehicles people actually buy, this choice to invest time and money into a product for the Hummer seems... poor

Greetings All
Thanks for bringing this up, sincerely appreciated.
The HUMMER EV we did with GMC ( we were pretty chuffed to get to work with the big kids) a marketing test case for GMC and terrific experience for our crew. I can not speak highly enough of the teams from GMC, they were terrific to work with. It is a fully developed product as a product, everything works as expected and it is 100% electric. Some fine tuning for scaled manufacturability on the inside and some functions but not to much, moulds and tooling for the moulds all drawn and repeatable. It got the engineering tick and green light by GMC, that is not a small thing. To produce at the time did not make sense in Bend, things have changed at EarthCruiser as we all know ....... how ever much of the knowledge building and designing the HUMMER EV will carry into current and future EarthCruiser products.

As as side when we released the HUMMER with GMC we had significant pre orders ( that we returned) we were not in a position to produce efficiently the way we were set up, that is no longer the case. Painful, poorly executed and suckfully embarrassing but changed it has.

Production and distribution is a completely different animal now, the innovation, experience ( good, bad and dreadful) , and thought that goes into what we do has not changed a bit.

Of course the HUMMER and other EV platforms granted are not designed to cross the Sahara, but they the manufacturers and the infrastructure gurus are continuing to improve and solve the dreaded range hijeebies for there real life use case. It may not belong in the "overlanding category" I like to think of what it has does do for our collective industry when one of the big three saw overlanding enthusiasts as a the place to test out the future, we should be happy with that not knock them for it. I could be wrong but i think it only drives more automotive quality products for us to enjoy safely with our friends and families.

EarthCruiser will start to reintroduce modern light weight fuel efficient camper option for those who choose batteries to cylinders. Or a combination of both in the very near future.
Getting of my hobby horse now.

We take your point, we are not far away from these being available from a dealer near you, we are so so close. REALLY close.
