I made it on my normal hunting trip that year as well in October.

The dogs did their part and put up plenty of birds, the hunters did what they could and bagged a few.

We stay at some cabins as some of the group is older and won't camp any more, but I always want to check this island cabin out every year.

And finally a quick shot of the truck for the week.

Looks like a great trip. I don't blame you, that cabin looks like it would be a great place! Is it a rental or does someone live there?

I assume it's someone's vacation place. We looked it up the one year and found there was an accompanying sliver of land shore side, we assumed for a dock so you could get out there. It's possible they rent it out, but given the I'm assuming bare bones (solar, compost toilet, lugged propane, etc) accommodations, I'd think it'd be a pretty hard place to rent out.

Shortly after I returned from Michigan, we met some friends down near Hocking Hills for their birthday and tacked on a little camping for ourselves beforehand.

We took a quick trip over to the Atkinson Ridge Fire Tower.

Then headed over to Olds Hollow Cave for a bit of hiking.

Finally we settled into camp for the night.

This was actually our most recent camping trip. Soon after we learned we'd be welcoming a little girl into the family! Everything turned out great but my wife had a bit of a tough time with things so we took it easy. I'm hoping to get out a bit later this summer as it cools down and do some camping, it's been too long and I think everyone is old enough now to take a trip.

Congratulations on the little girl joining your family!
