Another new tire could be ideal for 8-8.5" wheels:
Nitto Recon Grappler 37x11.5R17 - 128 load index - Load D yet 3970 lb capacity @ 65psi. 3 ply sidewall
Exciting to see innovation for us off road tire folks.
There's some exciting tire news!!!
Toyo RT Trail - 37x12.5R17 - Load E - 128 load index (3970lbs @ 65psi).
Toyo AT3 - 37x12.5R17 - Load E - 128 load index (3970lbs @ 65psi). 3 peak snowflake.
Both have 3 ply sidewalls. Waiting on a call back to hear if they share the same carcass...
Yes we removed our sway bar when the truck was new. It actually snapped the end link on the first drive after lifting. Originally was planning to reinstall but after testing... just left it off.
Sway bar can help on road smooth surfaces at speed in corners to reduce weight transfer...
We have a friend traveling full time in his Tacoma FWC. It weighed in at 8,000lbs. Which is really light for a truck, camper and full time gear. However, it is a LOT for a little truck. He has 140k miles or so from 5 yrs on the road. Not ideal. I'd feel more confident with the Tundra (and...
We continue on Section 3 of the Idaho BDR (Backcountry Discovery Route) from Elk City to Yellow Pine (heading south). Highlights include: Florence Ghost Town, French Creek Grade, Pilot Fire Lookout and the Old Abandoned Bus.
Elk City to Yellow Pine is the most remote segment of the Idaho BDR...
Adventure vehicles are fun but realistically if the world fell apart. Getting out of town wouldn't be a resolution. Might be better to buy a chunk of land somewhere if concerned about getting out of the city. And maybe buy a mini-van or similar that is more practical and fuel efficient.
That's what we have... yet base trucks have loads of technology! Heck our XL can be started via the phone. Not an option all the trucks have it.
Radar and self stopping becoming standard in many vehicles. As well as self steering. Lane assist or whatever they call it. No thanks. All...
We continue on Section 4 of the Idaho BDR (Backcountry Discovery Route) from Darby to Elk City. This route includes the most popular Idaho Overland road segment the “Magruder Corridor”.
You can expect moderately rough and narrow roads with more frequent traffic on this historic 101 mile single...
The really sad thing is the overall market movement towards technology... all these fancy gadgets age poorly and cost a bundle after warranty to repair. Self-steering, stopping, more screens than the stock exchange, powered everything (even things you didn't know could be) and on it goes.
Why...
I'm old school... so I'd avoid the "newest tech". I like proven older things (especially for off road travels). 6.2L is a solid, proven motor and plenty powerful (especially coming from Toyota). 7.3L is getting some miles and time under it but still newer.
Forget the Tremor. You can add...
We travel Section 5 of the Idaho BDR (Backcountry Discovery Route) heading south from Pierce to Darby. This route includes the well-known “Lolo Pass” and multiple fire lookout towers.
This begins the remote, scenic and rugged sections of the BDR route. You can expect slower travel speeds as the...
We put one on our Tacoma... but it was also a manual with 3 sticks which could be intimidating. Our Super Duty is connected online. Can check status on it via the phone; somewhat handy and strange.
In this video… we continue south after biking the Hiawatha Trail (an abandoned train track with many tussles and tunnels). This section of the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route is one of the most scenic drives in Idaho! It follows the St Joe River along the old train route and includes many...
I completely disagree that it will allow "stealth" urban "camping". First this is illegal in most cities. Second, everyone knows that is happening. VanLife movement really ruined the "stealth" option. I'm really apposed to the hobo lifestyle as it has been getting negative attention and...
That's great! Thanks for posting.
I do like the full opening w/o the camper... but we need to modify our camper bracket slightly for clearance. These cabs provide excellent access even with a 90 degree stop.
We have videos on nearly everything we've done.... Lots to browse through.
The bike rack was originally built for our 2019 F250 Crew Cab. We then moved it to our 2020 F250 Extended Cab - it bolted right up! Bikes fit either cab.
