    U1300L VIN Check

Yes, the commercial trucks seem have a different VIN arrangement than the passenger vehicles, which would explain a lot. I also read that the commercial MB use the "18th" digit as the check number, which was even stranger. I don't believe that VIN sequences were standardized until 1988 which...

Lock N Roll bolt thread failure

I've never heard of a Lock-N-Roll failing, they get twisted, bent, tweaked, and now I understand the threads get messed up. The Lock-N-Roll and the Max Coupler are both certified couplers for using on road. To get the certificate they are exposed to loads three times greater than their rating...

Thanks for the help, and welcome to the Portal. The script and no script code wasn't in the original embedding code. I think it got there from Dreamweavers compatibility checker. When I removed just the no script it did very strange things to the page. I ended up pasting the original...

Lock N Roll bolt thread failure

I think it has to to with standard thread tolerances. If the female is at the high end of the tolerance and the male at the low end then the fit will be loose. It's a matter of finding a manufacturer who uses closer tolerances, or mil spec. The down side is always cost.

Lock N Roll bolt thread failure

Well, I've had years of experience working with Lock-n-Roll, I have my own personal experience as a manufacturer, and I deal with thread issues on a daily basis, so yes I'm kind towards them. The Lock-n-Roll manufacturing is not Great Lakes Forge's main business, they run a forge and deal with...

I checked the videos using Firefox and they all played fine. I did a Browser compatibility check and the only issue was "Half Line Height Bug, but that only effects Internet Explorer 6. Anyone else having viewing issues?

Lock N Roll bolt thread failure

I don't think we are looking at a "bolt failure" here. The part in question was no where near a situation where it broke or came apart. What we are looking at is a situation, two cases that we know of, where the threads were stripped when taken apart. I'm not sure if the strength of the...

It definitely get the brain cells spinning. There are so many things you can do, but it's best to spend a while working out what it is you are trying to achieve when the build is complete and then back into it. Working from the end point you can create a dream list and then pair it down based...

Lock N Roll bolt thread failure

Your identical issue is now the second occurrence that I have heard about, the first being the original post. I don't think you should throw another $250.00 at the problem. I'd suggest a call to the manufacturer to see if they can address the problem. Two brothers own the company, hopefully you...

Lock N Roll bolt thread failure

There are a number of companies out there who make good products but have lousy customer service. It would be best if they stayed in manufacturing and left the sales to others, but the profit margin from direct sales is much too enticing.

Lock N Roll bolt thread failure

Over the years we sold a lot of Lock-n-Roll couplers, I never saw this problem with any of them. As Rob said the discoloration seems to be a plating issue. Great Lakes Forge who make the Lock-N-Roll are a full on forge, and they make heavy duty military equipment, think tank gun turrets etc...

I have a little more video to edit on another vehicle we did a build on, it's completely different from the build on Mario's truck, shows other designs for different applications. I spent yesterday videoing a series on "Compressors and On Board Air" with George from Extreme Outback. We captured...

My good fried who owns the Series III Land Rover is never one to do maintenance or fix something that has been "repaired" or isn't broken. 3 years after the trip the cooling system was running fine, smelt a bit like a curry, but no overheating. On the same trip we lost our steering in the sand...
