The emergency spice kit is a real life saver.
I once plugged a radiator leak when we were in the middle of the Namib Desert with just 2 teaspoons of Tumeric seeds.

I have a lot of sympathy for you. It's an endless and thankless job trying to explain the legalities of importing vehicles into the USA.
Although US residence and or citizens grasp the fact we live under a Federal system, there seems to be a disconnect when it comes to vehicles. The...
The videos do demonstrate the capabilities of AT, but the videos are also there to get people thinking about how to achieve their goals in a practical manner.
It's so easy to start building up a vehicle, trying to fit everything in including the kitchen sink, many times you end up with...
Here are the EPA regulations:
1. Vehicles 21 Years Old Or Older
If the vehicle is at least 21 years old, there are no EPA compliance requirements upon importation. The age of the vehicle is determined by subtracting the calendar year of manufacture from the calendar year of importation. If the...

Here is the NHTSA ruling on vehicles older than 25 years
8. Importing a vehicle that is at least 25 years old.
A motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old can be lawfully imported into the U.S. without regard to whether it complies with all applicable FMVSS. Such a vehicle would be...
I just finished editing video for AT, it's a short 8 parts series on vehicle design and development.
Mario runs through everything from the thought process behind a build, through basic concepts, moving to design and placement.
I think its a good prep for anyone thinking of outfitting their...
The issue would be that Simon is importing a vehicle he would need to first conform with all Federal regulations as required by NHTSA, DOT, EPA.
After he has done that then he can register the vehicle in one of the States and then be subjected to local regulations.
Simon for clarification...

Manufacturers build US spec vehicles as indicated on there compliance stickers. Vehicles that are non-US spec vehicles can be brought into compliance through "Registered Importers" a list of them can be found here
It's been a while since I looked into this but I believe that the RI's do...
I think it would work well for special applications.
We use T handles for closures, to get an actuator to work you need a rod mechanism. We use all of our open doors as flat areas, a premium space when off road, and use them as tables and preparation areas. If you had mechanical closures with...
I've thought about it, but it may be introducing a complexity that isn't really called for.
I know UK4X4 built his trailer with no exterior handles or latches, all 12 volt actuators opening the doors from the interior, but I'm a little worried if one of the actuators failed or you drained your...
The truck build has been on a short hiatus while I'm waiting on parts.
I've been doing some less glamorous work in the meantime. I produced drawings of all the panels needed to construct the storage units. These have all gone to be converted to CAM files so that the panels can be cut on a CNC...
No issues with the poly block. We have never had to replace one so I don't have the replacement cost handy. I'll see if I can get pricing.
The original Max Coupler was a Class II rated at 3500 lbs.
Yes exactly.
In future when I stick my foot in my mouth Gabe will be at hand to give me a good slap on my back.
Thanks Gabe, now lets head back to the bar to drink some serious Virgin Margaritas, it is Friday after all :sombrero: Lechyd da
If you have problems with the Land Rover adapters we can have some made for you and ship them to you. You are going to need to do some pre planning to get the adapters made correctly. Most of it involves knowing the width of your rims, your back spacing and the clearance you have from the...
I think people will chip in with advise on purchasing from online vendors for the axles.
A couple of points.
The 8 lug patterns are not available for axles rated lower than 5000 lbs i.e. the 1500 lb and 3500 lb rated axles only come in 5 on 4.5, 5 on 5, 5 on 5.5, 6 on 5.5.
Land Rover bolt...
Lots of information on the site regarding heaters. I'm sure a search will pull up the threads.
Please note that a low oxygen sensor is not a CO detector. You can be dead a long time before that shuts off the heater.
I think coupler preference is a little like the debate over an ice chest or a fridge.
It's a hard thing to get people to switch over to the fridge......until they try one, or after drinking a cold beer out of someone else's fridge when it's 120'F in Death Valley
Great news that you have joined the Trailer Clan.
The Texas Potjie Festival sounds like fun, nothing like food from a Potjie. I'm interested in some recipes.
Even though it doesn't qualify as an expedition I'd love to read a post on the event.
