    That doesn't sound good.

    Mac Encryption

My understanding is that if FileVault is enabled without a Master Password there is no back door access, the downside is that if you forget your user password all of you data will be lost. The master password would have been set through the Security panel in the System Preferences.

    Replacement larger diesel tanks

There are plenty of plastic fuel tank repair kits out there that seem to do the job. Permatex makes one I don't think it's a matter of "cheapness" making a plastic skid plate, with all the different permutations plastic can be created in there is no real reason why it shouldn't do a good job...

    Replacement larger diesel tanks

I find the plastic tanks to be interesting, straight bolt in replacement with a protection plate if required. Are you all in favor of steel tanks because that's what you are used to, or do you have some good reasoning behind wanting steel? Plastic is light weight, doesn't rust, bends rather...

The death of a diesel engine

Not the best of news that's for sure. I have a salvaged engine with a rebuild transmission sitting on the sidelines just in case. It would be a drop in replacement. The cost for any repair is really more than I can afford right now, so it's all a matter of degree, will I just end up with tears...

    Horrible Freight?...Nice Jack!

So how is it that their stuff is so cheap? As one person posted he thought the scrap value of the aluminum jack was worth more than he paid for the jack. Doesn't seem to add up.

The death of a diesel engine

No compression on cylinder #8. They need to get a scope in there to see if it's a valve or the piston.

The death of a diesel engine

Talked to the mechanic again today. I think I misread his earlier e mail. The compression check has not been done yet. It will be done tomorrow. So I'm waiting on that to see what the verdict is.

The death of a diesel engine

A local diesel mechanic picked the truck up Friday evening and took it back to his shop. We talked today and it looks like the turbo ingested something. One of the blades on the turbo is broken and the others are bent. The computer said all the cylinders were good, and a compression test on...

The price increase for the AT FlipPac are for products made for us by FRP. The JK Topper is not an FRP product, that is an Adventure Trailers product and so far has not had any price increases. The JK Topper will be the first product release from this line, and any other versions that have...

    Heating a Wildernest/Flip-pac

When you do your more scientific study, here are a few things to take into account. The Propex heater can be used in a sealed environment, as the air for combustion and the exhaust from combustion is taken from the exterior. The Mr. Heater heats combusted air and requires 18 sq inches open to...

    AT FlipPac price increases

If you are sitting on the fence trying to decide if you want to purchase an AT FlipPac now would be a good time to make that decision. Pricing goes up at the end of February.

    Dexter Axles: Input needed, please

They take rods of rubber, dip them in nitrogen to solidify and contract them, and then insert them into the axle beam. Heat is a big issue, and the slowness of the drop arm to react to changes in terrain starts a bouncing that produces some of the heat. The other major fact for off-road usage...

    AT Rear Tire Carriers

Sorry, the pictures posted are not of the new tire carrier. I've seen the CAD of the swingaway, and it looks very slick. No pictures for about a week, and no I won't be posting the CAD

    Dexter Axles: Input needed, please

Two complete failures, one of them on both sides of the axle. Spoke with an Australian military mechanic who worked on the armored cars fitted with torsion axles, numerous failures. Read blogs of Germans traveling in the Sahara, axle failures. They were briefly introduced on trailers in...

Let's Talk About Heating our Trailers.

Rob So long as you have the air intake and exhaust located on the exterior in good airflow 0.5 meter or more apart any of these systems with a separate combustion from heating sides work great. I just finished doing CO testing on our Propex heaters and I was surprised to see that during...

    winter camping tips

Zodi took them off the market some time ago. I believe it was a problem of the gas not having a shut off if the flame went out, or if the fan stopped working, may be both. Nice small unit, inexpensive, not ideal for a portable application as they were a little unstable.
