I dealt with this very thing as well. I took it to a local boat shop and they looked it over and said it was in the Gel coat. Now, to be fully honest, the boat guy did say this is usually a sign of cheap and not well done gel coating, so perhaps JB should look into that. But, in the end, the...
cool idea for sure. I know when i wake up in my JB and it's raining, i just take much longer to get out! But in reality, i kind of get myself together, quickly exit and run under the awning. Wait for it to stop raining before taking it all down, if you can. If it keeps raining i've taking...
Make sure you have the right fan blade in to "exhaust" and not pull in air. I made that mistake at first. I've noticed if it's just me, the fan is very effective. If it's two of us, it's not as affective but much better than no fan at all.
I also agree that the way the off/on switch is...
ARB has some of the most rock solid customer service in the industry. That alone is worth looking at ARB.
You just have to decide what style tent you want, basically flip over or a pop up hard shell.
they are very air tight if completely zipped up. So one thing is to unzip the doors about halfway. That helps a lot. But yes, my JB is extremely hard to close. I thought the newer ones have less stiff struts.
for portsmouth you will need to schedule the only ferry that runs to the island at Atlantic. It's called Morris Marina and the lady's name is Karri.
Like above you don't need a permit to drive on the beach. Part of the ferry fee will include the park fee since it's a national park. Dogs...
Just got back from Portsmouth this Sunday night. Weather was perfect and the fish were biting.
Here is a little drone footage that i took: https://youtu.be/7uwTZ-hAgyM
different than portsmouth. Portsmouth is almost completely primitive. When you get off the ferry there are a few cabins and a ranger cabin. There is one shower facility. Once you drive through that, you are on the beach and there is nothing else out there the entire island.
I'm heading down there tomorrow actually. I hear the drum are running.
Regarding going out there in February or march...Dude! That will be cold as ice and windy. You better be really prepared. I'm only assuming the ferry still runs then.
I had a chance to see the XXL grand raid (think that's the name; it's the largest one they offer) out on a week long trip. Great tent with all the expected features of james baroud. I liked everything about it.... except... where they put the storage compartment on the roof for a tire or...
This is a soapbox for me so i hope that this thread doesn't get locked... perhaps moved.
I appreciate your feedback Foy as this place is near and dear to my heart. As a young kid, i had a family friend who lived on Cedar Island. I would go visit him and stay with him for about 2-3 weeks each...
Thanks for that response Foy, it is much better than i could of done. Obviously the guy has no clue...
I have had the NPS ranger actually tell me that if the nesting birds see a dog off a leash it will frighten them to where they will never nest on the outer banks again... So i'm guessing a...
I go there at least once if not twice a summer. Normally early fall.
The place is awesome! Great fishing and solitude. The bugs can be bad, especially if the wind is coming from the sound, but if you have a breeze coming in off the water, it's not too bad.
There is water and a shower at the...
Don't want to pollute your thread but your story is cracking me up....
Just two days ago i was sitting with my financial advisor and he said what is your plan for retirement and when.... I responded to him quickly and said, "well, i want to buy a sail boat and live on it and sail anywhere i...
