did you get the Baroud? I have their RTT as well, but went with the ARB 2500 awning with the room. I'm really loving the combo. I was worried about the foxwing type awnings in the wind, plus i've noticed IMHO, they seem to sag pretty bad between each pole.
I have used my awning in HEAVY...
wheel failure can go with any brand of vehicle. I"ve seen the most reliable trucks in the world (land cruiser) have their wheels break off and fall off driving down the highway. Like stated above it could be overtorqued lug nuts, aftermarket wheel spacers, aftermarket wheels... ect.
I agree that show was pure entertainment... but here is where it backfires... all the folks who sit there and watch TV (arm chair quarterbacks) and have no real clue about our passion to explore and overland in remote areas and over difficult terrain, now view this show as just that. A bunch of...
Thank you for sharing this trip! I have always wanted to visit that area, and now you just helped put that back on my mind. Your time and efforts of posting up the pictures and description are much appreciated.
Next year the plan is Baja... so now i'm thinking 2017 is N. Montana and Canada!
I'm late on this thread and haven't read all the posts.
I have the helton hot water system. Why i think it's superior is as long as you have a water source you can take as long of a hot shower as you want. I dropped the intake end of my hose into a stream a few weeks back and took maybe a 20...
Thanks for sharing that adventure!
Question: Did you happen to go on the rubithon about three years ago on the wagon run and shear off some gears at the beginning? I thought i remember seeing that big 4 runner with us at the beginning and then thinking your t-case separated or something and...
You actually don't want the arm to flex down onto the ground, you need it to be suspended a little so you can swing it out while your wrestling with the awning.
Like said above, if you reach out to ARB USA they most likely will send a new part out free of charge. They did when i left my awning up in a heavy rain and didn't tilt it so it would shed water.... ended up collapsing and broke one of the side poles. They shipped me a new one free.
I think you are over engineering this. You have the measurements of the tent, now you have the measurements of the rails... just spread the mounting bars so they evenly distribute the load. That's all. No magical number.
OK, here is my review after my first full weekend using this room.
I camped on the Outer Banks of NC where the breeze and the mosquitos can be challenging. First off, i did use another car upwind as kind of a wind screen.... so i must at least disclose that.
Other than that, i had the awning...
my cruiser is parked over at my GF apartment so i'll need to drive over and measure.
Mine is on a Rino Rack HD load bar and the bracket fits around it perfect. So if you can get the measurement of those bars you would have it for sure.
two improvements that i heard they made were to make the lift struts less aggressive which is a good thing. Mine are so stiff that it really takes a lot of force to close. So having less "stiff" struts with a lockout is a no-brainer fix.
Second improvement i heard is the entire wall system...
