Land Cruiser in-cab Water System - ExPo worthy (LOL)!

Nice! You do a write up on the underbody tank? Looking to go that route down the road on my build

1986 Toyota 4Runner Baja Budget Build

Subscribed. Interested to see how you guys maximize living space with this. I’m currently building my 2000 XJ into a camper setup for living in the road and similar amount of space to work with. How much modification are you planning for off-road, or rather keep it more road worthy?

    Half Monti-V6 Build

Subscribed. Just talked to a good overland buddy that was looking into these. Not normally a fan of Mitsubishi but these retro ones are an eye catcher

Is it possible to get one of these hightop TroopCarriers (or reasonable facsimile) in North America?

Expedition goals. For the price of import I would think you could get something made by a van hightop shop. We have a shop down here in San Diego, fiberine vans, that does all sorts of molds/shapes. Set on hightop over pop top?

Jeep XJ Pop Top Camper Build

The poptop assembly as I bought it. Being that a VW bus doesn’t have a hood the roof is much longer and comes in two parts; the tent top and the luggage rack. On this model bus the tent was in the rear and opened with the high side closest to the driver cab. ^ This is the part that is used to...

Jeep XJ Pop Top Camper Build

Before getting into the camper build a fast forward through the suspension. Following stock vehicle repair the lift was the next major component. My kit was sourced from a couple different donor jeeps to achieve my ideal combination for budget/capability. Rubicon Express 3.5" Lift Kit RE...

Jeep XJ Pop Top Camper Build

Above is when I first picked up the VW top from Craigslist. It was $500 with canvas hinges and extra pieces. A little rough around the edges but good condition for the age. Image below is the first “jeepagon” that circled Jeep Forum and Expedition Portal a few years back. @arbslikewhoa on jeep...

Jeep XJ Pop Top Camper Build

Thanks @Whaler. Originally it was riveted down every 3 inches to the portion that factory rack bars would bolt to. This did a decent job but being in San Diego It hasn’t seen serious storms yet.

Jeep XJ Pop Top Camper Build

Before getting into my current build, a short tribute to my original jeep. This was a 2WD ‘94 that my dad bought new out of college. It was given to my cousins in the mid 2000’s and came back my way in April 2016. It ran well at 215k miles and with minimal fender trim fit 30” K02s and had a...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

My dometic 30qt drawer fridge came in today. Fitted it into the XJ camper build so that it minimizes space gaps and sits flush. Also started cutting and fitting the aluminum tubing around it for the overland platform I I’ll be welding up. Look up @overlandhistory mine will be similar to his in...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Interesting. I’ll have to look into that rail style more while considering the geometry of the shocks. The current setup doesn’t ride bad at all, just thinking long term durability as well.

    Custom trailer build starting

I run a 15x8 steel procomp wheel on my XJ. Mine sit fairly stances out with 3.75” backspacing and a 32x11.5” MT. I do believe the wheel comes in a less offset option that would work great with a 235-75-15 or even 31” all terrain. I run the 1069 series and no complaints after a year. Sent from...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Fabbed up a quick bracket to replace the snapped bar pins on the rear shocks of my XJ. Trying to think of any better methods of mounting the shocks without cutting into the cab, otherwise may remake these a little bit beefier and weld it directly into the factory crossmember system.

Prioritizing your build components (Looking for guidance)

Keep the necessities in mind. Tires, Wheels if needed, and a proper lift kit. Just with my jeep, upgrading and upgrading components took its toll. Would’ve saved me to just invest in the nice stuff I know I’d stick with first, but have learned a lot about my vehicles platform through that...
